Total Return Index continues were it left off

The MSE Equity Total Return Index closed the session in negative territory, closing 0.156% lower at 8,583.715 points. A total of 10 equities were active during the session of which six closed flat, while the gainers and losers tallied to two. A total turnover of €168,444 was generated among 25 transactions.

Property firm,Trident Estates plc gained 3.24% to close at the €1.91 price level. A total of 6,540 shares were exchanged among two deals.

In the same sector, MIDI plc also traded in positive territory as the equity closed 2.89% higher at €0.356. A total turnover of €9,106 was generated among two transactions.

On a negative note, RS2 Software plc continued on its negative run as the equity depreciated by 1.5% to close the session at €1.31. A total of three trades saw 25,360 shares exchange hands.

On the same note, HSBC Bank Malta plc shares closed 1.1% in the red to end the session at the €1.80 price level.

Elsewhere six equities being; Bank of Valletta plc, Lombard Bank plc, Mapfre Middlesea plc, Simonds Farsons Cisk, FIMBank plc and PG plc traded but registered no price movements,

Yields in the Sovereign debt market moved higher as out of 12 issues only a single issue gained being the 2.5% MGS 2036 (I). This registered a marginal increase to close at €108.30. The 5.2% MGS 2031 (I) registered the largest decline as the equity closed 0.73% lower at €141.   

In the corporate debt market, 14 issues were traded as three issues declined and six traded in positive territory. The 5.1% 6PM Holdings plc Unsecured € 2025 resumed trading after the MFSA terminated its suspension on trading in the bond. The suspension came in to effect on May 2, 2017 after the issuer failed to public its annual financial statements for the year ending December 2016. This morning, the bond plunged by 8.92% as it closed at €97 after touching €95.50 intra-day.
