MSE Index down 0.337% despite mixed performances in the equities market

The MSE Equity Total Return Index was hit negatively by0.337% to close the session at 8,770.860 points. A total of 15 equities were active, out of which 6 headed downwards and another 6 posted gains. Total turnover amounted to €476,226 through 79 transactions.
In the banking industry, Bank of Valletta plcregistered the largest loss of 6.43%, closing the session at €1.31 across 27 deals. Total number of sharestradedamounted to 65,832.
Conversely, FIMBank plc closed the session positively with a rise of 2.09%, to close at €0.70.The equity generated a turnover of €23,350, spread across seven deals.
HSBC Bank Malta plcremained unchanged despite having 22,930 shares exchanged throughout the session across sixtransactions. Theequity generated a turnover of €41,459.
The best performer was MIDI plc, where shares soared 17.86% to a price of €0.66. Such positive return resulted froma turnover of €164,029 over 18 trades.
To a lesser extent, Mapfre Middlesea made was the second best performer, logging apositive movement of5.46%. It closed the sessionat €1.93 having only one transaction of350 shares.
Similarly, GO plc and RS2 software plc were up by 2.09% and 1.77%, to closeat €3.90 and €1.15 respectively.
A single transactions of 3,000 shares of property firm, Trident estates plcpushed the equity upwards by 0.75% to €1.35.
In the same sector, both Tigne Mall plc and Main Street Complex plc registered negative movementsof 0.52% and 0.76%, closing the session at €0.955 and €0.65 respectively. Both equities had a single transaction each.
International Hotel Investments plc also closed in the red as a sole deal of 4,200 shares dragged the price down to €0.635.
Malta International Airportplc closed at €6.10, translating to a 1.61% decline while Medserv plc settled 1.83% lower at €1.07.
Elsewhere, Malta Properties Company plc and PG plc closed unchanged at €0.50 and €1.40 respectively.
On the corporate debt front,a total of 24 issues were active, of which seven headed south while five advanced. The 6% Medserv plc Sec. & Grntd € Notes 2020-2023 S1 T1 generated the highest price rise of 1.71% to €104. On the other hand, 5.75% International Hotel Investments plc Unsecured € 2025 shaved 3.72% off the price, to close off at €106.28.
In the sovereign debt front, only six issues were active, having three negative movers and two gainers. The 2.3% MGS 2029 (II) bond registered a rise in price of 0.18% to €106.32 with a single transaction of €50,000 nominal. Contrastingly, the 4.1% MGS 2034 (I) closed off the session 0.64% lower at €127.34.
