MSE Index returns to negative territory

MSE Daily Trading Report, 14 March, 2019

The MSE Total Return Index failed to sustain yesterday’s positive session as it lost 0.546% to 9,264.053 points. Ten equities were active, of which one headed north while another seven closed in the red. A total turnover of €131,010 was generated across 31 transactions.

In the banking sector, Bank of Valletta plc ended the session 0.79% lower at €1.25, as 23,359 shares changed hands across nine transactions, generating a total turnover of €29,391.

Similarly, a single transaction involving 10,362 FIMBank plc shares dragged price downwards by 2.86% to $0.68, generating a total turnover of €6,233.88.

The only gain for the session was of 1.75% as Mapfre Middlesea plc closed off at €2.32 as a result ofone transaction of 216 shares. Total turnover amounted tojust €501.

The largest fall of 3.37% was registered in the property sector by Malita Investments plc as a deal of 1,000 shares dragged theprice to €0.86, ending the session with a slimturnover of €860.

On the other hand, Malta Properties Company plc and Trident Estates plc were active but both closed unchanged at €0.58 and €1.33 respectively.

Tigne Mall plc generated a total turnover of €23,400 as four shares involving 26,000 shares were executed, lowering price to €0.90 by 2.17%.

The telecommunications company GO plc ended the session 1.61% lower at €4.90 as 9,000 shares were spread across eight transactions, generating a total turnover of €44,580.

One transaction of 2,000 MaltaPost plc  shares shaved 1.59% off theprice to €1.24, generating a total turnover of €2,480.

Also ending the session in the red, Malta International Airport plc closed at €6.55, transalting into a fall of 0.76%. Four transactions involving 3,260 shares were executed, generating a total turnover of €21,476.25

In the corporate debt market, 20 issues were active,of whichfour advanced while another 11 declined. The largest gain of 3.44% was registered by 6% Mediterranean Investments Holding plc Euro 2021 asit closed at €104.99.

On the sovereign debt front, out of 11 active issues, ten ended the session negatively while only one advanced. The 2.5% MGS 2036 (I) increased by 0.12% to €112.50.
