Local Weekly Round-up – 12th – 19th May

The MSE share index went down 1.3% this week where IHI was the only equity registering gains (+1.06) however index is still up 14.24% this year.  Lombard Bank was this week’s top loser as the equity lost 7.32% of its share value after a significant drop of 0.34c9 was recorded from last Thursday’s session.  BOV equity performed negatively during the last two sessions contributing to an overall weekly loss of 3.04%. Middlesea Insurance began to trade ex-div this week resulting in a drop of 1.52%.  Following last Monday’s announcement regarding the agreed price of Lm1.554 per share for the purchase of the government’s 60% stake in Maltacom plc, share price fell marginally by 0.51% where the week’s activity consisted of just over 76,000 shares which were exchanged across 98 transactions. This week’s strongest trading activity was recorded by HSBC equity where 186,254 shares changed hands across 201 deals.  The price maintained its previous week’s closing level of Lm2.40c.  Other non-movers this week were Suncrest, Plaza, GFSG, FIM Bank and Datatrak.  Elsewhere in the market Simonds Farsons Cisk and MIA both suffered losses of 4.38% and 5.00% respectively.
