BOV & MIA drag MSE Index in the red

The MSE Equity Total Return Index failed to sustain yesterday’s positive performance is it closed 0.338% lower at 9,819.804 points. Out of 12 active equities, six declined while only one headed north. A total turnover of €433,270 was generated as 48 deals were executed.

The two main equities which dragged the index into negative territory were Bank of Valletta plc and Malta International Airport plc. Six deals involving 31,010 BOV shares pushed its downwards to €1.14 by 0.44%. A total turnover of €35,401 was recorded.  Similarly, MIA traded 0.67% lower as 2,325 shares changed hands across two transactions. Total turnover stood at €17,205.

FIMBank was also active in the banking sector but closed unchanged at $0.65.

The only positive performer, GlobalCapital plc, registered a 25% gain as two deals involving 6,000 shares were executed.

In the property sector, MIDI plc declined to €0.61 by 3.94%. A total turnover of €40,632 was generated as 66,608 shares were spread over seven deals.

Similarly, two deals involving 3,000  Trident Estates plc shares pushed price lower by a further 0.53% to €1.86. Total turnover amounted to €5,580.

Malta Properties Company plc traded four times but closed unchanged at €0.68.

Four deals involving 1,900 PG plc shares generated a negative 1.16% movement as closing price stood at €1.70. A total turnover of €3,236 was generated.

Also trading in the red, International Hotel Investments plc closed at €0.805, translating into a fall of 0.62%. One deal of 3,00 shares resulted into a total turnover of €2,415.

Elsewhere, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc, GO plc and RS2 Software plc were all active but closed unchanged at €10.30, €4.38 and €1.90, respectively.

The Corporate Debt Market had a negative session, as out of 16 active issues, nine traded lower while only the 3.85% Hili Finance Company plc Unsecured € 2028 advanced. As six deals were executed, price went up by 1.79% to €101.89.

The Sovereign Debt Market also registered a negative performance as out of 16 active equities, 14 declined while the other two closed unchanged. The 2.5% MGS 2036 (I) headed the list of fallers as it closed 0.61% lower at €129.
