MSE Daily Trading Report, 10 October, 2019

The MSE Equity Total Return Index bounced back to positive territory, as it closed 0.628% higher at 9,909.647 points. Ten equities were active, of which five headed north while another two closed in the opposite direction. A total turnover of €284,038 was generated over 48 deals.

Two equities were active in the banking sector, of which Bank of Valletta plc registered a gain while HSBC Bank Malta plc closed unchanged. Eight deals involving 20,800 BOV shares generated a total turnover of €23,368.

The best performance, that of a 4.13% rise in price, was recorded by Simonds Farsons Cisk plc, as it closed at €12.60. Two deals involving 1,671 shares were executed and total turnover amounted to €20,227.

Similarly, eight deals involving 7,565 Malta International Airport plc shares, pushed the price 2% higher to €7.65. A total turnover of €57,697 was recorded.

In the property sector, two equities were active, of which Malta Properties Company plc closed 1.54% in the green while MIDI plc closed unchanged – at €0.66 and €0.69 respectively. The former generated a total turnover of €9,949 as 15,300 shares changed hands, while the latter generated a turnover of almost €55,000. Both equities were active over three deals.

RS2 Software plc shares managed to recoup yesterday’s loss, as it registered a 1.05% gain, to close at €1.93. A total turnover of €74,475 was generated as 38,819 shares changed ownership over nine deals.

Heading the list of fallers, GlobalCapital plc was down by 17.78% to €0.222. This was the result of a sole deal of 100 shares.

BMIT Technologies plc lost 2.83%, as it closed at €0.515. Nine deals involving 56,600 shares were executed. Total turnover stood at €29,402. Meanwhile, its parent company, GO plc, was active as 2,665 shares were traded across three transactions, generating a total turnover of €11,246. Its previous closing price of €4.22 was not impacted.

In the corporate debt market, 22 issues were active, of which two advanced while another 11 traded lower. The 5.1% 1923 Investments plc Unsecured € 2024 headed the list of gainers, as it closed 0.71% higher at €101.87.

In the sovereign debt market, out of 13 active issues, only the 4.6% MGS 2020 (II) registered a 0.43% gain, to close at €103.07. The rest closed in the red.
