Large caps drag MSE Index further into the red

The MSE Equity Total Return Index drifted 0.662% lower to 9,708.941 points. A total of 20 eqities were active, of which three headed north while another eight closed in the opposite direction. A total turnover of €953.490 was generated over 100 deals.

Four equities were active in the banking sector, of which two registered gains while the other two closed unchanged. Bank of Valletta plc lost a further 0.46% as it closed at €1.09. Such a negative performance was the result of 17 deals involving 50,404 shares. Total turnover stood at €54,988.

Its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc also continued to decline as it closed 0.78% lower at €1.27. A total turnover of €49,573 was generated as 38,703 shares changed hands over 13 transactions.

Meanwhile, Lombard Bank Malta plc and FIMBank plc were both active but closed unchanged at €2.26 and €0.63, respectively.

The best performer was BMIT Technologies plc, as it recouped its previous loss, to close at €0.53. This translates into a 1.92% rise, as a result of nine deals involving 118,175 shares. Total turnover amounted to €62,562. Its parent company, GO plc, was also active over two deal with a spread of 870 shares. Its previous closing price of €4.20 was not impacted and a total turnover of €3,654 was generated.

Similarly, RS2 Software plc traded 1.03% higher at €1.96 as 121,118 shares changed ownership across 11 deals. A total turnover of €233,868 was recorded.

A sole deal of 9,585 Plaza Centres plc shares pushed its price 0.98% higher to €1.03, generating a total turnover of €9,873. Conversely, Main Street Shopping Complex plc was active but closed unchange at €0.60. It registered a total turnover of €41,748.

In the property sector, four equities were active, of which three lost ground while the other one closed unchanged. As opposed to yesterday’s positive session, Malta Property Company plc headed the list of fallers with a 4.96% decline to €0.67. This was the outome of a single deal of 666 shares.

Trident Estates plc was down to €1.86 by 2.11% as seven deals involving 3,506 shares were executed. Total turnover stood at €6,540. Similarly, Malita Investments plc lost 0.56% as 144,187 shares changed hands over three deals. The equity generated a total turnover of €129,032 and ended the session at €0.89.

Two deals involving 7,900 MIDI plc shares left no impact on its previous closing price of €0.695.

Malta International Airport plc lost ground as it closed 0.30c lower at €7.20. A total turnover of €254,511 was recorded as 12 deals involving 35,263 shares were executed.

On a similar note, Medserv plc declined by 1.59% to €1.24 as 10,000 shares were spread across three transactions. A total turnover of €12,400 was recorded.

A sole deal of 526 MaltaPost plc shares impacted its price with a negative 1.54% movement in price, to close at €1.28.

Mapfre Middlesea plc was active over two deals but, once again, did not register any change in price as it closed at €2.12.

Elsewhere, Farsons Cisk plc, International Hotel Investments plc and PG plc were all active but closed unchanged at €12.10, €0.78 and €1.84, respectively.

In the corporate debt market, 18 issues were active, of which five advanced while another four closed in the red. The 4.5% Izola Bank plc € Unsecured 2025 headed the list of gainers with a 1.17% rise to €108.

In the sovereign debt market, out of 13 active issues, all lost ground except for the 5.5% MGS 2023 (I) which closed 0.09% higher at €121.11.
