MSE Daily Trading Report, 28 October, 2019

The MSE Equity Total Return Index started off the week on a negative note, as it closed 0.35% lower at 9,842.549 points. Total turnover stood at just over €416,000 generated across 63 trades. Out of 14 active equities, two headed north while another six closed in the opposite direction.

Three equities were active in the banking sector, of which one declined while the other two closed unchanged. Bank of Valletta plc traded 0.91% lower and closed at €1.09, as seven deals involving a total of 41,660 shares were executed. A total turnover of €45,566 was recorded.

Its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc was also active over seven deals for a total turnover of €33,201, however the closing price was left unchanged at €1.30.

A sole deal of 10,000 FIMBank plc shares did not impact its previous closing price of $0.64. Total turnover stood at €5,762.

The best performer and the most liquid equity was RS2 Software plc, as 70,487 shares changed ownership over 17 deals. Price went up by 3.03%, to close at €2.04 and a total turnover of €140,665 was generated.

The other gainer was Trident Estates plc, as it closed 1.32% higher at €1.54. During the session, it also reached a high of €1.57. Eight deals involving 31,200 shares generated a total turnover of €48,364.

Heading the list of fallers, Loqus Holdings plc declined by 24.12%, to close at €0.065, following a deal of 1,000 shares.

Three deals involving 34,500 MIDI plc shares dragged its price 3.50% lower, to €0.69. A total turnover of €24,435 was recorded.

Also in the property sector, Malta Properties Company plc lost 2.99%, to close at €0.65, as 5,090 shares changed owenrship over three deals. Total turnover stood at €3,309.

Telecommunications company GO plc lost its recently recorded gain, as it closed 2.75% lower at €4.24. A total turnover of €45,648 was generated, as seven deals involving 10,790 shares were executed.

Similarly, Malta International Airport plc off-set last Friday’s gain as it lost 0.68%, to close at €7.25. One deal of 1,600 shares was executed, generating a total turnover of €11,600.

Elsewhere, International Hotel Investments plc, Plaza Centres plc, Medserv plc and PG plc were all active but closed unchanged at €0.845, €1.03, €1.18 and €1.87, respectively.

In the corporate debt market, 25 issues were active,  of which seven registered gains while nine closed in the red. The 4.4% Von der Heyden Group Finance plc Unsecured € 2024 headed the list of gainers, as it closed 1.45% higher at €101.79.

In the sovereign debt market, out of ten active issues, nine traded lower while the 2.1% MGS 2039 (I) was active but closed unchanged at €126. The 4.3% MGS 2033 (I) registered the largest daily decline – that of 0.60%, as it closed at €150.
