BOV pushes MSE Index into positive territory
The MSE Equity Total Return Index kicked off the week on a positive note as it closed 0.261% higher at 9,873.573 points. A total turnover of €131,285 was generated over 29 deals as 10 equities were active, of which gainers and loser tallied to three a-piece.
Bank of Valletta plc was the main equity which pushed the MSE Index into the green. Price was up by 2.28% to €1.12 as five deals involving 6,220 shares were executed. A total turnover of €6,887 was generated.
On the other hand, its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc lost ground with a 2.31% decline to €1.27. Three deals with a mix of 8,778 shares generated a total turnover of €11,198.
Following suit, FIMBank plc lost 0.78% to $0.635 with just a single deal of 4,869 shares. Total turnover amounted to €2,802.
The best performer was Trident Estates plc, registering a 16.45% increase in price to €1.77. Last week, trading of the 12,000,003 new ordinary shares commenced. Today’s positive performance resulted from 1,752 shares changing hands over two deals. Total turnover stood at €3,046.
Tigne’ Mall plc was also active in the property sector. A sole deal involving 2,290 shares dragged the price 0.55% downards to €0.90.
Another positive performer was BMIT Technologies plc, as 127,000 shares changed hands over six deals. The equity was the most liquid one worth €66,315. As a result, price was up by 0.97% to €0.52.
Four deals involving 11,640 International Hotel Investments plc shares left no impact on the previous closing price of €0.85. A total turnover of €9,894 was recorded.
Simonds Farsons Cisk plc was active over three deals on slim volume. A total turnover of €7,882 was generated. The company reached a daily high of €11.70 but did not manage to sustain the gain as it closed unchanged at €11.50.
Similarly, PG plc was also active over three deals with a spread of 11,350 shares. The price declined to €1.77 during the day but managed to recoup the loss by end of today as it closed unchanged at €1.79. This resulted into a total turnover of €20,120.
Meanwhile, one deal of 500 RS2 Software plc shares left no impact on the previous closing price of €2.16.
In the corporate debt market, 32 issues were active of which gainers and losers amounted to 11 each. The 3.75% Mercury Projects Finance plc Secured € 2027 headed the list of gainers with a 1.19% increase to €101.95. On the other hand, the largest decline of 1.24% was registered by the 5.5% Pendergardens Developments plc Secured € 2020 Series I as it closed at €99.75.
In the sovereign debt market, out of 12 active issues, four registered gains while the rest closed in the red. The best performance of a 0.81% rise in price was recorded by the 2.1% MGS 2039 (I) as it closed at €125.
