MSE Daily Trading Report, 24 February, 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index lost ground as it closed 1.263% lower at 9,397.920 points. Out of 10 active equities, one headed north while another four closed in the opposite direction. A total turnover of €375,500 was generated over 56 transactions.

In the banking industry, three equities were active. HSBC Bank Malta plc registered the highest liquidity as total turnover stood at €176,851. Nine deal involving 166,746 shares dragged price by 0.93%, ending the session at €1.06.

Its peer, Bank of Valletta plc, traded seven times over 11,418 shares but closed unchanged at €1.05. A total turnover of €12,093 was recorded.

Meanwhile, the only positive performer for today’s session was Lombard Bank Malta plc, as it closed 0.93% higher at €2.18. This was the result of two deals with a spread of 4,287 shares.

Malta International Airport plc also registered high liquidity as a total turnover of €102,405 was generated. Price was down by 5.07% as 15,170 shares changed ownership over 17 transactions. The equity ended the session at the €6.55 price level, reaching a 10-month low price.

Three deals involving 3,000 RS2 Software plc shares resulted into a 0.79% decline, ending the session at €2.50. The equity registered a total turnover of €7,500.

International Hotel Investments plc also lost ground, ending the session 5% lower at €0.76. Total turnover amounted to €8,430 as 10,927 shares changed hands over three deals.

Eight deals with a spread of 94,070 BMIT technologies plc shares did not impact the equity’s previous closing price of €0.525. Total turnover stood at €49,193.

Loqus Holdings plc traded five times over a mix of 48,000 shares, worth €3,840. The equity’s price of €0.08 was not altered.

A sole deal of 2,500 Mapfre Middlesea plc shares did not change the equity’s previous closing price of €2.28. A total turnover of €5,700 was recorded. Similarly, Main Street Complex plc traded once on slim volume but closed unchanged at €0.57.

In the Sovereign debt market, out of 12 active issues, 10 traded higher while one lost ground. The 2.4% MGS 2041 (I) closed 1.98% higher, ending the session at €132.57. Conversely, the 5.5% MGS 2023 (I) lost 0.04%, to close at €119.27.

In the corporate debt market, 16 issues were active, of which five registered gains while another four closed in the red. The 4% International Hotel Investments plc Unsecured € 2026 headed the list of gainers with a 0.97% increase, as it closed at €104.00. On the other hand, the 5% Dizz Finance plc Unsecured € 2026 closed 1.33% lower at €100.50.

In the Prospects MTF market, 5% Busy Bee Finance Company plc Unsecured € 2029 and 5.75% Pharmacare Finance plc Unsecured EUR Bonds 2025-2028 were active active, closing at €104.00 and €100.50, respectively.
