MSE Daily Trading Report, 05 March, 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index registered a further decline of 0.918% as it reached 9,317.881 points.  A total of 11 equities were active, of which three headed north while another four closed in the opposite direction. A total turnover of €866,660 was generated over 67 deals.

In the banking industry, Bank of Valletta plc lost a further 1.44%, to close at €1.025. Total turnover amounted to €30,814 as 29,862 shares changed hands over 10 deals.

Its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc, registered high liquidity as total turnover stood at €209,735. The bank’s previous closing price of €1.07 was not impacted. A mix of 199,100 shares were executed over 17 transactions.

Similarly, FIMBank plc was active but closed unchanged at $0.58. Four deals with a spread of 22,901 shares were executed.

The most liquid equity was GO plc as it generated a total turnover of €221,520. Five deals involving 52,000 shares were executed, which did not alter the equity’s previous closing price of €4.26. Meanwhile, its subsidiary, BMIT Technologies plc, traded once over 15,000 shares which resulted into a 0.91% decline. The equity ended the session at €0.545 and generated a total turnover of €8,175.

Malta International Airport plc recorded high liquidity it recorded a total turnover of €155,089. Price declined by 6.77% as it reached the €6.20 price level, resulting into the largest fall in price for the session. This was the result of 21 deals with a spread of 23,916 shares.

A sole deal of 100,000 PG plc shares dragged the price by 1.50%, as it closed at €1.97. Total turnover stood at €197,000.

Four deals involving 24,055 Malita Investments plc shares pushed the price 1.12% higher to €0.90. As a result, the equity generated a total turnover of €21,502.

Plaza Centres plc executed a single deal of 2,350 shares, worth €2,444. The equity closed 0.97% higher at €1.04.

Similarly, International Hotel Investments plc, traded once on slim volume. Price was up by 1.35%, ending the session at €0.75.

RS2 Software plc was active but closed unchanged at €2.54. A total of 3,351 shares changed hands over two transactions.

 In the Sovereign Debt market, out of 14 active issues, five advanced while another eight closed in the red. The 4.3% MGS 2033 (I) registered the best performance is it closed at €151.36, translating into a 0.91% increase in price. Conversely, the 2.4% MGS 2041 (I) ended the session 0.24% lower at €133.59.

In the Corporate Debt market, 23 issues were active, of which five registered gains while another nine lost ground. The best performer was the 4.5% Medserv plc Unsecured € 2026 as it closed 1.01% higher at €100.00. On the other hand, the 5.3% United Finance Plc Unsecured € Bonds 2023 lost 1.53% as it ended the session at €103.00.

In the Prospects MTF market, three issues were active but closed unchanged. The 5% Busy Bee Finance Company plc Unsecured € 2029 registered the highest liquidity as total turnover stood at €31,200.
