MSE Index drops by a further 3.307%
MSE Daily Trading Report, 13 March, 2020
The MSE Equity Total Return Index extended its loss by a further 3.307% as it reached 8,630.297 points. Out of 15 active equities, 10 closed in the red while the rest closed unchanged. A total turnover of €852,659 was generated over 84 transactions.
In the banking sector, FIMBank Malta plc headed the list of fallers as it closed 20.63% lower at $0.50. A sole deal of 17,500 shares was executed.
Meanwhile Bank of Valletta plc and HSBC Bank Malta plc were both active but closed unchanged at €1.02 and €1.00, respectively. BOV traded nine times over a mix of 38,372 shares, worth €38,790. HSBC executed 5,040 shares over three transactions, generating a total turnover of €5,040.
The two most liquid equities for the session were Malta International Airport plc and PG plc but both closed unchanged at €5.05 and €1.90, respectively. MIA registered a total turnover of €263,656 as 52,529 shares changed hands over 41 transactions. Meanwhile, PG traded seven times over a mix of 202,300 shares, which resulted into a total turnover of €384,370.
RS2 Software plc was down by 6.40% as four deals involving 25,650 shares were executed. A total turnover of €60,174 was generated.
Similarly, BMIT Technologies plc lost 1.85% as 60,100 shares changed hands over four transactions. The equity generated a total turnover of €31,853 and ended the session at €0.53.
Meanwhile, its parent company, GO plc¸ traded twice over 2,500 shares, worth €10,500. The equity’s previous closing price of €4.20 was not impacted.
Moving on to the property sector, Trident Estates plc closed 4.32% lower as four deals involving 17,200 shares were executed. A total turnover of €26,822 was recorded.
Two deals involving 14,639 Malta Properties Company plc shares dragged the price by 3.23 into the red. The equity closed at €0.60 and generated a total turnover of €8,900.
Main Street Complex plc traded 8.77% lower as 10,000 shares changed hands over two deals. Total turnover amounted to €5,200. Similarly, Plaza Centres plc executed two deals with a spread of 6,000 shares. Total turnover stood at €5,893 while price declined to €0.98.
A sole deal of 730 MaltaPost plc shares resulted into a negative 6.92% change in price. The equity ended the session at €1.21 and recorded a slim turnover.
Simonds Farsons Cisk plc lost ground as it ended the session 8.26% lower at €10.00. One deal of slim volume generated a total turnover of €1,750.
Similarly, Mapfre Middlesea traded once on slim volume, to decline by 6.45% to €2.32. Total turnover stood at €1,044.
In the Sovereign Debt market, all eight active issues closed in the red. The 3% MGS 2040 (I) registered the largest decline in price, as it closed 2.68% lower at €104.33.
In the Corporate Debt market, 34 issues were active, of which eight advanced while another 16 closed in negative territory. The best performer was the 4.4% Von der Heyden Group Finance plc Unsecured € 2024 as it traded 1% lower at €101. On the other hand, the 5.8% International Hotel Investments plc 2023 closed 4.15% lower at €104.
In the Prospects MTF market, the 5% Borgo Lifestyle Finance plc Secured Callable 2026-2029 was active but closed unchanged at €100.
