HSBC and IHI register double-digit gains

The MSE Equity Total Return Index registered a 1.629% increase as it reached 7,887.544 points. Out of 15 active equities, five headed north while another six closed in the opposite direction. A total turnover of €189,464 was generated over 57 transactions.

Three deals involving 20,900 International Hotel Investments plc shares resulted into a positive 10.28% change in price. The equity ended the session at €0.59 and a total turnover of €12,331.

In the banking industry, HSBC Bank Malta plc increased by ten cents (+11.11%) to €1.00 as three deals involving 11,006 shares were executed. Total turnover amounted to €10,465.

Its peer, Bank of Valletta plc, announced the decision of keeping the initial proposal for dividend distribution (a final net dividend of €0.017 per share) but decided to make the payments once the situation is stable. In line with the European Central Bank’s recommendation, the earliest payment date would be October 1, 2020. The bank registered the highest liquidity as total turnover stood at €61,928.  Price declined by 1.16% to €0.85 as 72,513 shares were spread over 21 transactions.

A sole deal of 1,659 FIMBank plc pushed price 4.44% higher to $0.47. The bank registered a slim turnover.

Meanwhile, Lombard Bank Malta plc traded once over 3,000 shares but closed unchanged at €2.10. A total turnover of €6,300 was recorded.

Malta International Airport plc advanced by 0.4% as it ended the session at €4.98. A total of 5,651 shares changed hands across 11 deals, worth €28,117.

Another positive performer was Mesdserv plc as it closes 4.17% higher at €1.00. Total turnover amounted to €2,820 as 3,052 shares were spread over four transactions.

IT services provider, RS2 Software plc, lost 2.6%, reaching the €1.87 price level. This was the outcome of two deals involving 10,033 shares, worth €18,763.

Three equities were active in the property sector, of which two declined while MIDI plc closed unchanged at €0.38.

Malita Investments plc traded 1.28% lower at €0.77 as two deals involving 13,500 shares were executed. Similarly, Trident Estates plc was down by 0.78% to €1.27 as the equity traded once on slim volume.

A sole deal dragged both Main Street Complex plc and Harvest Technology plc into the red. The equities traded on slim volume and closed at €0.48 (-3.61%) and €2.67 (-2.67%), respectively.

Elsewhere, Mapfre Middlesea plc and PG plc were both active but traded flat at €2.26 and €1.70, respectively.

In the Sovereign Debt market, nine issues were active, of which five traded lower while the 2.3% MGS 2029 (II) closed 0.44% higher at €116.78. The 4.1% MGS 2034 (I) registered the largest decline in price as it closed 0.51% lower at €145.18.

In the Corporate Debt market, out of 26 active issues, four gained ground while another 13 closed in the red. The 4.5% Hili Properties plc Unsecured € 2025 closed 1.03% higher at €98.00, registering the best performance. On the other hand, the 5.25% Central Business Centres plc Unsecured € 2025 S2T1 lost 2.91%, to close at par.

In the Prospects MTF market, the 5% Borgo Lifestyle Finance plc Secured Callable 2026-2029 was active but closed unchanged at €93.50.
