MSE Daily Trading Report, 08 April, 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index ended the session in negative territory as it closed 1.563% lower at 7,714.138 points. Eight equities were active, of which five declined while the other three closed unchanged. A total turnover of €110,323 was generated over 37 deals.

Malta International Airport plc registered the highest liquidity as a total turnover of €63,275 was recorded. The equity dropped by 4% to €4.80 as 16 deals involving 12,875 shares were executed.

Five deals involving 21,475 International Hotel Investments plc shares dragged price by 6.9% downwards to €0.54. A total turnover of €11,597 was generated.

Telecommunications company, GO plc, declined by 4.76% as 2,500 shares were spread over five transactions. The equity ended the session at €3.60 and registered a total turnover of €9,093. Meanwhile, its subsidiary, BMIT Technologies plc traded once over 9,000 shares but closed unchanged at €0.49.

Bank of Valletta plc was active but closed unchanged at €0.85. The bank traded five times over a mix of 14,052 shares, worth €11,964.

In the property sector, two equities were active. A sole deal of 5,000 MIDI plc shares resulted into a 2.63% fall in price. The equity closed at €0.37 and generated a total turnover of €1,850. Malta Properties Company plc traded twice over 12,500 shares, which did not impact the equity’s previous closing price of €0.49. Total turnover amounted to €6,110.

MaltaPost plc headed the list of fallers as it declined by 18.18%. The equity ended the session at €0.90, despite reaching an intra-day high price of €1.08. Total turnover stood at €2,025 as two deals involving 2,200 shares were executed.

Harvest Technology plc announced that the board shall meet on April 24, 2020 to consider and approve the audited consolidated financial statements for the financial year ended December 31, 2019. The board will also review the management accounts of the first quarter of 2020 and continue assessing the possible impact of the current coronavirus on operations and prospects.

In the Sovereign Debt market, nine issues were active, of which five headed north while another four closed in the opposite direction. The best performer was the 2.5% MGS 2036 (I) as it closed 2.54% higher at €131.25. Conversely, the 4.3% MGS 2033 (I) lost 2.62%, ending the session at €148.00.

In the Corporate Debt market, out of 23 active issues, eight advanced while another six lost ground. The 4.5% Izola Bank plc € Unsecured 2025 headed the list of gainers with a 5% rise, as it closed at €105.00. On the other hand, the 6% Medserv plc Sec. & Grntd €  Notes 2020-2023 S1 T1 closed 2.97% lower at €97.00.

In the Prospects MTF market, the 4.75% Gillieru Investments plc Secured Bonds 2028 closed 0.2% higher at €98.00 while the 5% HH Finance Plc Unsecured Euro Bonds 2023-2028 declined by 4.46% to €96.50.
