MSE Daily Trading Report, 23 June 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index registered a further 0.77% decline as it reached 8,227.026 points. Out of 10 active equities, eight traded lower while the remaining two closed unchanged. A total turnover of €319,865 was generated across 47 transactions.

The most liquid equity was Malta International Airport plc with a total turnover of €112,965. A total of 19,627 shares were spread across 11 transactions. As a result, the equity registered a 1.72% change in price, ending the session at €5.70.

In the banking industry, both active equities closed in the red. Bank of Valletta plc traded three times over a mix of 21,552 shares. The price declined by 0.98%, reaching the €1.01 price level. Its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc was down by 1.04% as it closed at €0.95. Three deals involving 10,372 shares were executed, generating a total turnover of €9,853.

Telecommunications company, GO plc, registered a 2.37% drop in price, to close at €3.30. A total turnover of €29,393 was generated as 8,860 shares changed hands over five deals. Similarly, its subsidiary, BMIT Technologies plc closed 2.86% lower at €0.476. A total of 11 deals involving a mix of 129,273 shares were executed, worth €63,182.

A sole deal of 12,500 PG plc shares dragged the price by 0.51% into the red. Total turnover amounted to €24,625 as price declined to €1.97.

In the property sector, Malta Properties Company plc lost 1.72% as 5,700 shares changed hands over three deals. The equity closed at €0.57 while total turnover stood at €3,194.

Malta Post plc closed in negative territory at €1.18, translating into a 1.67% movement in price. Total turnover amounted to €5,708 as 4,760 shares changed ownership across three transactions.

Elsewhere, RS2 Software plc and Mapfre Middlesea plc were both active but closed unchanged at €2.40 and €2.20, respectively. The former recorded a total turnover of €43,673 as 18,250 shares were spread over five deals. The latter traded twice over 2,500 shares, worth €5,500.

Yesterday evening, Main Street Complex plc announced that the Annual General Meeting is scheduled to be held on July, 2020. All shareholders listed on the register of members as at June 29, 2020 shall be eligible to receive notice, attend and vote at the AGM and to receive a copy of the Annual Report. The directors also resolved to recommend to shareholders the payment of a final net dividend of €161,000 or €0.00,831 per share (having a nominal value of €0.10 per share). If approved, the final net dividend will be paid on July 31, 2020 to the shareholders appearing on the company’s register of members.

No trading activity was recorded during the session.

In the Sovereign Debt market, four issues were active, of which two headed north while the 5.1% MGS 2022(I) closed 0.05% lower at €110.71. The 2.2% MGS 2035 (I) traded 0.26% higher, ending the session at €114.30.

In the Corporate Debt market, 23 issues were active, of which five advanced while five lost ground. The 4.25% Corinthia Finance plc Unsecured € 2026 headed the list of gainers as it closed 2.64% higher at €103.15. On the other hand, the 4.25% Best Deal Properties Holding plc Secured € 2024 closed 1.93% lower, reaching the €101.00 price level.

In the Prospect MTF market, the 5% Busy Bee Finance Company plc Unsecured € 2029 was active but closed unchanged at €102.00.
