MSE Index goes further up

MSE Daily Trading Report, 28 July 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index advanced by a further 0.127% as it reached 8,121.453 points. Nine equities were active, of which gainers and losers tallied to two a-piece. A total turnover of €96,545 was generated across 27 transactions.

The highest liquidity was recorded by BMIT Technologies plc with a total turnover of €58,164. A total of 120,066 shares were spread over 11 deals, dragging the price by 1.23% into the red. The equity ended the session at the €0.48 price level.

Its parent company, GO plc announced it has held its Annual General Meeting during which all the resolutions on the agenda were approved. A sole deal of 663 shares did not impact the equity’s previous closing price of €3.44. Total turnover stood at €2,281.

This afternoon,  Harvest Technology plc announced that during the meeting held today, the board approved the company’s interim financial statements for the six-month period ended June 30, 2020. During the period under review, the group registered a 20% increase in revenue when compared to the previous half-year period, as it stood at €9 million. Similarly, profit before tax increased to €1.86 million – an improvement of 21% on the budget projection for H1 (€1.3 million) which constituted the first half of the annual projected consolidated net profit before tax of €3.1 million for 2020. The earnings per share increased from 0.042 to 0.052. The group’s net assets as at June 30, 2020 amounted to €11 million versus the €10 million recorded during the same period last year.

The board also announced that it has resolved to distribute an interim net dividend of €546,785, equivalent to €0.024. All shareholders on the company’s register as at July 31, 2020 shall be entitled to receive their respective share of the dividend. Payment of the dividend shall be effected by not later than August 14, 2020.

The equity was not active during the session.

In the banking industry, three equities were active. HSBC Bank Malta plc headed the list of fallers with a 2.11% change in price, as it closed at €0.93. Three deals involving 5,207 shares were executed, worth €4,843.

Its peer, Bank of Valletta plc, was active but closed flat at €0.98. A total of 7,150 shares changed ownership across three transactions. A total turnover of €7,007 was recorded. Similarly, Lombard Bank Malta plc traded once but closed unchanged at €2.06.

The top performance was registered by Mapfre Middlesea plc as a single transaction of 220 shares pushed the price 6.93% higher to €2.16.

In the property sector, Malita Investments plc was up by 2.2% as 17,014 shares changed hands over five deals. The equity ended the session at €0.93 and generated a total turnover of €15,727.

International Hotel Investments plc traded once over 5,600 shares, worth €3,024. The equity’s previous closing price of €0.54 was not altered.

On a similar note, Malta International Airport plc was active but closed unchanged at €5.50. One deal of 895 shares generated a total turnover of €4,923.

GlobalCapital plc announced that merger documents, related to GlobalCapital Holdings Limited, have been signed. It is anticipated that GC Holdings Limited will be amalgamated with the company by virtue of a merger procedure. As a result of the aforementioned merger, the company, as the acquiring company, shall succeed to all the assets, rights, liabilities and obligations of GC Holdings Limited. The merger is part of a broader restructuring strategy of the GlobalCapital group of companies. The board deem this merger to be in the best commercial interests of the company.

No trading activity was recorded during the session.

In the Corporate Debt market, 25 issues were active, of which 12 headed north while another five closed in the opposite direction. The 5.25% Central Business Centres plc Unsecured € 2025 S2T1 headed the list of gainers as it closed 3.52% higher at €103.00. On the other hand, the 6% International Hotel Investments plc € 2024 lost 1.96%, ending the session at €100.10.

In the Sovereign Bond market, out of 11 active issues, five registered gains while another four lost ground. The best performance was recorded by the 1.50% MGS 2045 (I) with a 5.74% movement in price, to close at €114.20. Conversely, the 2.5% MGS 2036 (I) closed 6.79% lower as it reached the €122.10 price level.

In the Prospects MTF market, three issues where active. The 5% The Convenience Shop Holding plc Unsec Call € 2026-2029 reached its par value, translating into a 0.2% decline while the other two closed unchanged.
