Low Activity lead to a lower Index

MSE Daily Trading Report, 30 July 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index continued to decrease in value as today 29 transactions lowered the index by 0.657% to reach 8,036.499 basis points. Ten equities were traded of which four closed in the red while three closed higher. In total, the market turnover tallied to €81,739.

In the banking industry, A single trade of 6,013 Bank of Valletta plc shares declined the equity price by 0.61% to reach the price level of €0.984. Despite being the most traded share, HSBC Bank Malta plc traded flat, thus remaining at €0.92.

Mapfre Middlesea plc registered the highest loss in today’s session – a 6.48% decline resulting to a price level of €2.02.

Following yesterday’s company announcement, Malta International Airport plc’s equity price were cut back by 3.64% to close at €5.30. Four trades of 2,830 shares were exchanged tallying to a market turnover of €15,072.

MaltaPost plc and RS2 Software plc shares both registered a mere increase of 0.85% each – closing at €1.19 and €2.36 respecitvely. On the other hand, a single trade in BMIT Technologies plc shares lessened the price by 0.83% to close at €0.48.

Three trades in Malta Properties Company plc enhanced the equity price by 4.67% to close the session at €0.56.

International Hotel Investments plc and PG plc traded unchanged.

In the Corporate Debt market, 12 issues were active, of which two registered gains while another eight lost ground. The 5.75% International Hotel Investments plc Unsecured € 2025 headed the list of gainers with a 1.9% change in price, to close at €101.50. On the other hand, the 4.25% Corinthia Finance plc Unsecured € 2026 lost 2.84%, ending the session at €99.10.

In the Sovereign Bond market, seven issues were active. Four issues closed in the green while two closed in negative territory. The 2.5% MGS 2036 (I) closed 7.29% higher at €131.00 while the 1.50% MGS 2045 (I) declined by 0.39%, to close at €113.75.

A single trade in the Prospects MTF market was in the 5.5% Yacht Lift Malta Plc Secured Callable Bonds € 2021-2025 issuance. However the price remained the same at par value.
