MSE Daily Trading Report, 12 August 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index returned to negative territory as it ended the session 0.382% lower at 7,736.206 points. Eight equities were active, of which two advanced while another four lost ground. A total turnover of €173,265 was generated across 30 transactions.

The highest liquidity was recorded in the property sector by Malta Properties Company plc with a total turnover of €107,974. Eight deals involving 200,000 shares resulted into a 0.92% decline, to close at €0.54.

In the banking industry, Bank of Valletta plc lost 0.63% as 9,870 shares were spread across two transactions. The bank ended the session at the €0.944 price level while total turnover amounted to €9,355. Similarly, its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc, traded twice over 3,020 shares, resulting into a 1.18% fall in price. A total turnover of €2,537 was generated as the price declined to €0.84.

Telecommunications company, GO plc¸ also closed in the red at €3.28 – translating into a 2.38% change in price. Three deals involving 3,326 shares were executed, worth €10,950.  On the other hand, its subsidiary, BMIT Technologies plc, was up by 0.42% to €0.48. The equity traded eight times over a spread of 56,636 shares, generating a total turnover of €26,763.

Another positive performer was GlobalCapital plc advanced by a further 4.95% as it closed at €0.53. A total of 5,995 shares change hands across three transactions, worth €3,077.

Elsewhere, Malta International Airport plc and PG plc were both active but closed unchanged at €4.80 and €1.90, respectively. MIA recorded a total turnover of €7,992 as a result of three deals involving 1,665 shares. Meanwhile, PG traded once over 2,430 shares, worth €4,617.

In the Sovereign Bond market, eight issues were active, of which the 4.5% MGS 2028 (II) traded 0.01% higher at €133.50 while another two closed in the red. The 2.4% MGS 2041 (I) lost 0.37%, ending the session at €134.00.

In the Corporate Debt market, out of 13 active issues, six headed north while another two traded lower. The 4% MIDI plc Secured € 2026 registered the best performance as it closed 1.5% higher at €101.50. Conversely, the 4.25% Corinthia Finance plc Unsecured € 2026 declined by 1.98% to €99.00.

In the Prospects MTF market, three issues were active. The 5% JD Capital plc Unsecured € Bonds 2028 registered a negative 0.25% movement in price, as it closed at €98.25.
