MSE Daily Trading Report, 13 August 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index registered a further decline of 1.51% as it reached 7,619.64 points. Out of 13 active equities, one advanced whilst eight closed in the red. Turnover reached €283,500 as 41 transactions were recorded.

RS2 Software plc was the most active equity as three deals worth €114,646 were recorded. The equity closed the session down by nearly 1% or €0.02 to close at €2.32.

On the other hand, Trident Estate plc headed the list of fallers to end the session in the red with an 11.4% decline at €1.48. Over five trades of 24,688 shares, worth €37,521 were recorded.

Mapfre Middlesea registered a loss of 5.7% with a closing price of €2.00 over three trades amounting to only 2,200 shares.

In the banking industry, HSBC Bank Malta plc gained 1.2% as 7,300 shares were traded across 4 transactions. A total turnover of €6,158 was recorded. Meanwhile, Bank of Valletta plc remained unchanged at the €0.94 price level. The equity traded twice over 6,330 shares worth €5,975.

Plaza Centre plc and Tigne’ Mall plc also ended the session in the red registering a loss of 1.1% and 10% respectively. A total of 39,960 Plaza Centre plc shares were traded over two trades with a total turnover of €37,162 whilst Tigne’ Mall plc had three transactions with a total turnover of €5,356 involving 7,440 shares.

With only four transactions amounting to 3,787 shares, the price of Simonds Farsons Cisk plc decreased by 1.3%. Total turnover amounted to €28,402.

Similarly, Midi plc and International Hotel Investments plc closed in the red with a decrease of 7% and 7.7% respectively. Turnover in both equities was relatively low.

Global Capital plc ended the session unchanged at €0.53 as 9,815 shares were spread over three deals.

In the property sector, Malta Properties Company plc closed flat to end the session at €0.54. Two deals involving 28,000 shares were executed.

Malta International Airport plc was active but also closed flat at €4.80. A total turnover of €10,872 was generated as two deals involving 2,265 shares were executed.

In the Corporate Debt market, 18 issues were active, of which two headed north while another four lost ground. The 5.5% Mediterranean Investments Holdings plc Unsecured € 2023 headed the list of gainers as it closed 1.3% higher at €101.50. On the other hand, the 5.1% 1923 Investments plc Unsecured € 2024 ended the session 5% lower at €95.00.

In the Sovereign Bond market, out of 11 active issues, one registered a gain while three traded lower. The 5.1% MGS 2029 (I) was the best performer with a 0.3% movement in price, reaching the €141.62 price level. Conversely, the 1.5% MGS 2045 (I) declined by 0.7%, to close at €113.75.
