MSE Daily Trading Report, 19 August 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index ended the session 0.144% lower as it reached 7,549.594 points. Six equities were active, of which gainers and losers tallied to three a-piece. A total turnover of €68,272 was generated across 21 transactions.

The highest liquidity was recorded by Malta International Airport plc with a total turnover of €42,264. Nine deals involving 8,775 shares resulted into a negative 4% movement in price, to close at €4.80.

In the banking industry, three equities were active. Bank of Valletta plc declined by 3.85%, reaching the €0.90 price level. Eight deals involving 18,445 shares were executed, worth €16,625.

On the other hand, HSBC Bank Malta plc traded 2.41% higher over a sole deal of 403 shares. The bank ended the session at €0.85.  Similarly, Lombard Bank plc closed at €1.88 – equivalent to a 1.08% increase, as a result of one transaction of 2,000 shares.

Today’s top performer was International Hotel Investments plc as it recorded a positive 8.33% movement in price, to close at €0.52. This was the outcome of a single transaction involving 1,000 shares.

Meanwhile, a sole deal of 10,000 BMIT Technologies plc shares dragged the price by 0.83% into the red. The equity ended the session at €0.476 and generated a total turnover of €4,760.

In the Corporate Debt market, 14 issues were active, of which four headed north while another six closed in the opposite direction. The 4% MIDI plc Secured € 2026 headed the list of gainers as it closed 1.86% higher at €103.90. Conversely, the 5% Tumas Investments plc Unsecured € 2024 lost 2.26%, ending the session at €101.55.

In the Sovereign Bond market, out of four active issues, two registered gains while the other two closed unchanged. The 5.1% MGS 2022(I) closed 0.03% higher at €110.23.

In the Prospects MTF market, the 4.75% Orion Finance plc € Unsecured 2027 was active as it traded 1% higher, to close at €99.99.
