MSE Daily Trading Report, 28 August 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index moved marginally higher to end the final week of August at 7,519.038 points. A total of eight equities were active, as three gained and another two equities, including Malta International Airport plc (MIA) shares, headed lower. Turnover in the equity market reached nearly €42,600.

GO plc shares gained 3% or €0.10, as three deals worth €5,000 were executed. The equity closed the session at €3.32 after trading at a low of €3.20.

On the downside, MIA shares declined by 1.6% on meagre volume, to end the week at €4.90. Similarly, Bank of Valletta plc shed 0.7% as the banking equity closed at €0.894.

Meanwhile, HSBC Bank Malta plc shares traded flat at €0.80 as two trades worth €11,000 were recorded.

In the property sector, Plaza Centres plc increased by 0.5% to close at €0.94 while Malta Properties Company plc traded flat at €0.51. One deal of 2,240 shares was recorded.

On a positive note, Harvest Technology plc closed higher by a further 0.7% or €0.01 as the equity ended the week at €1.47. Three deals worth nearly €20,000 were recorded.

Thin trading in MaltaPost plc left the equity’s price unaltered at €1.10 after trading at a daily low of €1.

In the Corporate Debt market, eight issues were active. The 3.8% Hili Finance Unsecured 2029 declined marginally to €98.99 while the 4.25% Corinthia Finance Unsecured 2026 gained 2.5%. In addition, the 6% International Hotel Investments plc Unsecured 2024 posted a 1.8% gain to close at €101.75.

In the Sovereign Debt market five issues were active as turnover reached nearly €180,000. Trading activity was concentrated across long-dated issues.

In the Prospects MTF market, the 5% Smart Care Finance 2029 closed marginally lower at €100.50.
