Large caps drag MSE Index lower

MSE Daily Trading Report, 17 July 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index registered a decline of 0.436% as it ended the week at 8,111.256 points. Eight equities were active, of which one advanced while five lost ground. A total turnover of €62,824 was generated across 20 deals.

In the banking industry, Bank of Valletta plc and HSBC Bank Malta plc headed in the same direction. BOV shares registered a decrease of 1.02% as 3,403 shares changed hands across three transactions. The bank ended the session at €0.97. Similarly, HSBC shares registered a decline of 1.04%, reaching the €0.95 price level.  This was the result of a sole deal of 1,309 shares, worth €1,244.

In the telecommunications sector, GO plc registered the largest turnover during the session as five trades managed to generate a total turnover of €23,755. The equity closed flat at €3.42.

It’s subsidiary, Malta Properties Company plc plunged by 6.14% at €0.535. A total of two deals over a slim volume were executed.

RS2 Software plc registered a decrease of 0.84% to close the session at €2.36. A total of two deals saw 8,500 shares exchange hands.

Four trades involving 2,089 Malta International Airport plc shares did not alter the equity’s previous closing price of €5.60. Total turnover amounted to €11,698.

The only positive performer was Global Capital plc as two deals pushed the price 9.09% higher to €0.36. A total of 5,000 shares were executed, generating a total turnover of €1,657.

Simonds Farsons Cisk plc traded once on slim volume, resulting into a negative 0.63% change in price. The equity ended the session at €7.95.

In the Corporate Debt market, out of 11 active issues, five headed south, while the 3.75% Bank of Valletta plc Unsecured Sub € 2026-2031 traded 0.01% higher, ending the session at €102.01. Meanwhile, the 4% Stivala Group Finance plc Secured € 2027 closed 2.39% lower at €101.00.

In the Sovereign Bond market, 10 issues werec ative of which five closed lower, while one closed higher. The 5.2% MGS 2031 (I) registered the only gain during the session as the bond price increased by 0.14% at €147.67.On the  other hand, the 4.5% MGS 2028 (II) lost 2.03%, to close at €130.00.

In the Prospects MTF market, three issues were active, of which one headed north while one closed in the opposite direction. The 5% Smartcare Finance plc Secured € 2029 was the only positive performer as it closed 1.18% higher at €102.70. Conversely, the 5% Luxury Living Finance plc Secured Bonds 2028 lost 2.48%, ending the session at €97.50.
