MSE Daily Trading Report, 12 September, 2019

The MSE Equity Total Return Index registered a further 0.851% increase to 9,975.540 points. Thirteen equities were active, six headed north while another five closed in the opposite direction. A total turnover of €754,612 was generated across 71 deals.

The top driver for today’s positive performance was Malta International Airport plc as it recorded a positive 4% movement in price to €7.80. Ten deals involving 11,050 shares generated a total turnover of €85,772.

In the banking sector, Bank of Valletta plc was also part of today’s positive session. A sole deal of 1,792 shares pushed its price to €1.15 by 0.88%. Total turnover stood at €2,061.

Lombard Bank Malta plc traded four times over 20,000 shares, resulting into a 3.64% decline to €2.12. A total turnover of €42,200 was generated.

Simonds Farsons Cisk plc headed the list of gainers with a 4.76% change in price to close at €11.00. A total turnover of €59,790 was generated as three deals involving 5,438 shares were executed.

Three equities were active in the property sector, of which two declined while the other one registered a gain. MIDI plc advanced by 3.28% to €0.63 and ended the session with a total turnover of €293,461. It was the most liquid equity for today’s session as 495,666 shares changed ownership over 17 deals.

On the other hand, Malita Investments plc was the worst performer, with a 4.47% decline. Three deals with a spread of 9,700 shares dragged its price to €0.855. Total turnover amounted to €8,602.

Similarly, one deal of 2,800 Trident Estates plc shares impacted its price with a negative 0.54% change. A total turnover of €5,180 was generated as the closing price stood at €1.85.

Medserv plc traded gained 1.63% to close at €1.25. A total turnover of €12,212 was generated as 10,101 shares changed hands across five transactions.

Three deals involving 12,207 RS2 Software plc shares resulted into a positive 0.53% change in price. The equity closed at €1.91 and a total turnover of €23,210 was generated.

The telecommunications company, GO plc declined by 1.36% as four deals involving 7,550 shares were executed. Total turnover stood at €33,045. Meanwhile, BMIT Technologies plc closed unchanged despite trading ten times.

Plaza Centres plc also closed in the red, with a 0.97% fall to €1.02. A total of 104,430 shares changed hands over seven deals. Total turnover of €107,539 was recorded.

Elsewhere, International Hotel Investments plc was active but closed unchanged at €0.805.

In the corporate debt market, out of 20 active issues, five ended the session in positive territory while another six recorded a loss. The best performer was the 4.5% Grand Harbour Marina plc Unsecured € 2027 as it closed 0.96% higher at €105.50.

Following its recent negative performance, the sovereign debt market managed to gain ground as all 12 active issues registered a gain. The 2.5% MGS 2036 (I) recorded the highest rise in price of 0.97% as it closed at €130.29.
