MIA plc pushes MSE Index in the red

MSE Daily Trading Report, 19 September, 2019

The MSE Equity Total Return Index lost ground, as it closed at 9,843.876 points, translating to a 0.571% fall. Out of nine active equities, four registered gains, with a single issue closing in negative territory. Total turnover stood at f €201,181 which was spread, across 32 deals.

The only negative performers were the, Malta International Airport plc shares which declined by 6.49% to €7.20. Seven deals involving 4,353 shares were executed, ending the session with a total turnover of €31,704.

Three equities were active in the banking sector, of which one headed north while the other two closed unchanged. Bank of Valletta plc was up by 0.87% to €1.16 as 5,862 shares changed hands over two deals. Total turnover amounted to €6,800.

Meanwhile its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc, was active six times with a spread of 20,291 shares. Total turnover stood at €28,951.

One transaction of 6,389 Lombard Bank Malta plc shares did not impact its previous price of €2.24. A total turnover of €14,311 was recorded.

Heading gainers with a 3.89% increase in price, Tigne Mall plc shares generated a total turnover of €2,013. As a sole deal of 2,153 shares was executed, price increased to €0.935.

International Hotel Investments plc shares traded twice, with a  total of 50,000 shares, recording the highest liquidity. A total turnover of €40,500 was generated and price changed by a positive 0.62% to €0.81.

Similarly, RS2 Software plc closed 0.53% higher at €1.91. A total turnover of €61,645 was recorded as 32,500 shares changed ownership over eight deals.

Elsewhere, Mapfre Middlesea plc and BMIT Technologies plc were both active but closed unchanged at €2.16 and €0.52, respectively.

In the corporate debt market, 14 issues were active, of which seven headed north while three closed in the opposite direction. The best performer was the 4% International Hotel Investments plc Secured € 2026 as it closed 2.42% higher at €105.

In the sovereign debt market, out of 16 active issues, eight advanced while seven traded lower. The 2.1% MGS 2039 (I) registered the highest rise in price of 0.32% to €124.50.
