MSE Daily Trading Report, 02 October, 2019

The MSE Equity Total Return Index closed 0.83% lower at 9,873.263 points as 14 equities were active over 57 deals.  Only one headed north while another seven closed in the red. A total turnover of €194,297 was generated.

In the banking sector, all three equities closed unchanged yet again. Bank of Valletta plc was active over 15 deals involving 31,622 shares, but closed at €1.17 after touching a low of €1.15. Total turnover stood at €36,753.

Similarly, HSBC Bank Malta plc traded seven times as 6,205 shares changed ownership to end the session with a total turnover of €8,859. Its previous closing price of €1.43 was not impacted.

Two deals involving 5,454 Lombard Bank Malta plc shares did not change its last traded price of €2.60. A total turnover of €12,326 was generated.

The only gainer was in the property sector, as MIDI plc closed 1.49% higher at €0.68. Two deals involving 4,000 shares generated a total turnover of €2,701. Malta Properties Company plc was active over one deal of 1,828 shares but closed unchanged at €0.685.

Grand Harbour Marina plc recorded the largest fall in price of 8.96% to €0.61. A sole deal of 2,300 shares was executed, ending the session with a total turnover of €1,403.

Following suit, International Hotel Investments plc was down to €0.775, translating into a 4.32% decline. A total turnover of €34,420 was generated as 43,407 shares changed ownership over seven deals. Throughout the session the equity also traded at a daily high of €0.815.

Five deals involving 1,791 Malta International Airport plc shares dragged its price lower by 2.03% to €7.25. Total turnover amounted to €13,018.

Mapfre Middlesea plc closed 1.82% lower at €2.16 as 3,662 shares changed hands across two deals. A total turnover of €7,938 was recorded.

The telecommunications company, GO plc, closed at €4.32, translating into a 0.46% fall in price. Three deals involving 5,950 shares generated a total turnover of €25,704. Similarly, its subsidiary, BMIT Technologies plc registered a 0.93% decline to €0.53 as 18,000 shares traded over three deals. Total turnover stood at €9,540.

PG plc also closed in the red as it closed 0.53% lower at €1.86. Total turnover of €23,309 was generated as six transactions involving 12,500 shares were executed.

Elsewhere, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc and RS2 Software plc were both active but closed unchanged at €11.10 and €1.91, respectively.

In the corporate debt market, 21 issues were active, of which four registered gains while another six closed in negative territory. The 5.8% International Hotel Investments plc 2023 headed the list of gainers as it closed 1.40% higher at €108.50.

In the sovereign debt market, out of 15 active issues, nine headed north while another five declined. The best performer was the 3% MGS 2040 (I) as it closed at €144.10.
