MIA lifts MSE Index slightly higher

he MSE Equity Total Return Index managed to recoup part of yesterday’s decline, as it closed 0.092% higher at 9,882.317 points. A total of 14 equities were active, of which gainers and losers tallied to five a piece. A spread of 263,383 shares were traded over 53 deals.
Malta International Airport plc ended the session at €7.50 – a positive 3.45% change. Two deals involving 3,300 shares generated a total turnover of €24,664.
The three active banking equities were once again Bank of Valletta plc, HSBC Bank Malta plc and Lombard Bank Malta plc. The latter closed unchanged at €2.26 over one trade of 2,666 shares. Total turnover stood at €6,025.
BOV registered a 1.71% decline, to close off at €1.15. A total turnover of €35,077 was generated, as 11 deals involving 30,102 shares were executed.
Similarly, its peer, HSBC was down by 2.10% to €1.40, as 5,435 shares changed hands over five deals. Total turnover stood at €7,674.
Heading the list of gainers with an 8.20% change in price, Grand Harbour Marina plc recorded a sole deal of 2,133 shares. Price was up to €0.66 and a total turnover of €1,408 was registered.
Two deals involving 25,000 Loqus Holdings plc shares pushed its price 6.25% higher to €0.085. A total turnover of €2,072 was generated.
Another positive performance was recorded by International Hotel Investments plc, as it closed 0.65% higher at €0.78. A total turnover of €30,030 was recorded as 38,500 share changed hands over two deals.
Both GO plc and BMIT Technologies plc were active but closed in opposite direction. The telecommunications company closed with a 1.85% increase at €4.40, as 1,060 shares changed ownership over three deals. Total turnover amounted to €4,624. Meanwhile, its subsidiary’s price was impacted by a negative 1.89%, to close off at €0.52. This negative performance was the result of four deals involving 38,905 shares, generating a total turnover of €20,250.
In the property sector, two equities were active of which one declined while the other one closed unchanged. MIDI plc traded 68,500 shares over seven deals, to close off at €0.665 – translating into a 2.21% fall in price. Total turnover amounted to €46,769. On the other hand, Malta Properties Company plc featured in a sole deal of 1,000 shares but closed unchanged at €0.685.
Also ending the session in the red with a 0.97% change, Plaza Centres plc closed at €1.02 as three deals involving 35,470 shares were executed. A total turnover of €36,179 was registered.
Elsewhere, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc and RS2 Software plc were both active but closed unchanged once again at €11.10 and €1.91, respectively.
In the corporate debt market, 15 issues were active, of which gainers and losers both amounted to five. The best performer was the 4% MIDI plc Secured € 2026, as it closed 1.45% higher at €105. Conversely, the largest decline, that of 0.97%, was recorded by the 3.5% Bank of Valletta plc € Notes 2030 S1 T1, to close off at €100.02.
In the sovereign debt market, out of 12 active issues, eight headed north while another three closed in the red. The 2.1% MGS 2039 (I) headed the list of gainers with a 0.71% rise to €126.92.
