The MSE Equity Total Return Index was back in the red as it closed 0.160% lower at 9,733.718 points. 11 equity issues were active of which only two gained ground, while BOV was the sole equity to close in the red. A total turnover of €249,600 was generated over 49 deals.

Bank of Valletta plc featured in 15 transactions, in which a total of 31,318 shares changed hands. This activity yielded a 1.38% decline in price, to close at €1.075.

BMIT Technologies plc was not only the most liquid issue on the equity market but also headed the list of gainers. The share price rose by 0.94%, to close at €0.535. Total turnover stood at €103,814.

Santumas Shareholdings plc was the other active equity which registered a price movement in today’s session. Albeit trading only once for a total turnover just over €2,200, the price appreciated by 0.67%, to close at €1.50.

Despite being the second most liquid equity in today’s session, International Hotel Investments plc remained unchanged at €0.78. The equity was active on eight occasions in which a total of 66,302 shares changed ownership.

Property companies, Malta Properties Company plc and Trident Estates plc were both active but closed unchanged at €0.67 and €1.86 respectively. Turnover stood at just over €1,070 for the former and €11,972 for the latter.

In the banking industry, HSBC Bank Malta plc, Lombard Bank Malta plc and FIMBank plc closed unaltered from Thursday’s closing price at €1.27, €2.26 and $0.63 respectively.

Elsewhere, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc and MaltaPost plc were the other two active equities which closed unchanged. The food and beverage company traded twice and closed at €12.10 while Malta’s leading postal services company traded on four occasions and closed at €1.28.

In the corporate debt market, 24 issues were active, of which six headed north while nine closed in the red. The 4.25% GAP Group plc Secured € 2023 headed the list of gainers as it closed 4.64% higher at €104.90.

In the sovereign debt market, all but one of the 16 active isssues registered price movements – as nine appreciated and six declined. The 2.1% MGS 2039 (I) topped the list of gainers as two deals pushed the price up by 0.56%, to close at €125.20. On the other hand, the 4.6% MGS 2020 (II) was the sole issue to close unchanged at €102.48.
