BOV redacted the Index from green to red

The MSE Equity Total Return Index halted its positive form by ending today’s session 0.127% lower at 9,866.644. A total of 8 equities were active, of which gainers and losers tallied to two a-piece. A total turnover of €227,957 was generated over 25 deals.

In today’s session Bank of Valletta plc shares were traded twice. The price level decreased by 1.79%, to close at €1.10 – the largest faller of today’s session. The total turnover for this equity tallied to €3,087.

Closing in the same territory was PG plc. Four trades of a total of 44,200 shares yielded a 1.6% decline in price, to close at €1.84.

On the other hand RS2 Software plc gained ground, as 10 exchanges resulted in a 1.96% share price appreciation, to close at €2.08 – the largest gainer of today’s session.

Following suit was Malta Properties Company plc. A total turnover of €19,875 was spread across three transactions, which increased the share price to €0.66 – a 1.54% gain.

The other traded equities; International Hotel Investments, Malta International Airport, Mapfre Middlesea plc and Plaza Centres plc all traded flat and closed unchanged.

In the corporate debt market, 21 issues were active, of which seven headed north while another six closed in the opposite direciton. The best performer was the 6% AX Investments Plc € 2024, as it closed 1.77% higher following a company announcement stating that the company has submitted an application to the listing authority requesting the listing of €25 million in new unsecured bonds. If approved, preference will be granted to bondholders of the 6% AX Investments plc 2024 who appear on the Company’s register as at November 14, 2019. Conversely, the 5.8% International Hotel Investments plc 2021 headed the list of fallers, as it closed at €100.60, translating into a 3.73% decline.

In the Prospects MTF Market, the 5% Busy Bee Finance Unsecured Bond 2029 was traded once through which the price remained as is, at €105.

It was an adverse session for the sovereign debt market as all 13 active issues closed in the red. The highest loss was that of 1.19%, which was registered by the 2.1% MGS 2039 (I) as it closed at €125.
