HSBC pushed MSE Index lower

The MSE Equity Total Return Index kicked off the week in the red, as it lost a further 0.246%, to close at 9,842.325 points. A total of 12 equities were active, of which gainers and losers tallied to three a-piece. A total turnover of €254,928 was generated over 40 deals.

In the banking sector, HSBC Bank Malta plc headed the list of fallers as it declined by 3.85% to €1.25. Seven deals involving 21,719 shares generated a total turnover of €27,599.

Its peer, Bank of Valletta plc, was also active as 2,000 shares changed hands across two deals. Its previous closing price of €1.10 was however left unchanged. Total turnover of €2,200 was generated.

Similarly, FIMBank plc featured in three deals, in which a total 9,080 shares changed hands. Yet also in this case, the previous closing price of $0.64 was not impacted.

The best performer was RS2 Software plc as it registered a 1.92% gain, to close at €2.12. A total turnover of €10,611 was generated, as four deals involving 5,070 shares were executed.

The only active equity in the property sector, Santumas Sharehholdings plc, traded 1.43% higher, as it ended the session at €1.42. A total of 5,000  shares changed ownership over two transactions, generating a total turnover of €7,100.

Three deals involving 3,000 Malta International Airport plc shares pushed its price 0.68% higher to €7.35. Total turnover stood at €22,050.

Telecommunications Company, GO plc, ended the session in the red. Two deals involving 7,030 shares dragged its price 0.93% lower to €4.24. A total turnover of €29,888 was recorded. Meanwhile, BMIT Technologies plc was the most liquid equity, as it registered a total turnover of €75,755 over eight deals involving 145,000 shares. This did not result in any changes in its closing price of €0.52.

Mapfre Middlesea plc also ended the session in negative territory, as it closed 0.92% lower at €2.16. This was the result of four deals involving 7,000 shares. Total turnover amounted to €15,120.

Elsewhere, International Hotel Investments plc, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc and PG plc, were all active but closed unchanged at €0.85, €11.50 and €1.84, respectively.

In the corporate debt market, out of 18 active issues, six registered gains while another five declined. The 4% MIDI plc Secured € 2026 headed the list of gainers, as it closed 1.43% higher at €104.50. There were no trades in the Prospects MTF market.

In the sovereign debt market, all twelve active issues closed in the red, as yields headed north. The 2.2% MGS 2035 (I) registered the largest decline in price, as it closed 1.95% lower at €122.56.
