MSE Index gains ground as MIA and HSBC trade higher

The MSE Equity Total Return Index ended the session on a positive note, with a 0.142% increase to 9,845.475 points. 10 equities were active in total, of which five registered gains while another three lost ground.
Three large cap equities were active today. HSBC Bank Malta plc ended the session in positive territory as it closed 2.40% higher at €1.28. Two deals with a spread of 3,344 shares resulted into a total turnover of €4,320.
Malta international Airport plc managed to recoup its previous loss, closing 0.69% higher at €7.30. This was the result of a sole deal involving 1,370 shares, which generated a total turnover of €10,001.
On the other hand, four deals involving 14,895 Bank of Valletta plc shares dragged the price 0.45% lower, to close at €1.095. Total turnover amounted to €16,282.
The best performer was GlobalCapital plc, as it went up by 3.70% to €0.28. A total of 9,200 shares changed hands over two deals, generating a total turnover of €2,571.
Five deals involving 18,300 PG plc shares pushed its price 1.13% higher to €1.79. As a result, total turnover stood at €32,757.
Telecommunications Company, GO plc managed to off-set yesterday’s decline, as it advanced by 0.47% to €4.24. Four deals involving 5,705 shares were executed, generating a total turnover of €24,189.
RS2 Software plc headed the list of fallers, as it declined by 1.82% to €2.16. This was the result of two deals involving 3,500 shares. A total turnover of €7,520 was recorded.
Similarly, Mapfre Middlesea plc extended its negative trend, as it lost 0.93%, to close at €2.12. A total turnover of €19,730 was generated as 9,240 shares changed ownership over five transactions.
Elsewhere, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc and Malta Properties Company plc were both active but closed unchanged at €11.50 and €0.66, respectively.
In the corporate debt market, out of 16 active issues, two headed north while another five closed in the opposite direction. The 3.85% Hili Finance Company plc Unsecured € 2028 headed the list of gainers with a 1.50% increase, to close at €101.50.
In the sovereign debt market, 12 issues were active, of which two gained ground while the other 10 traded lower. The 2.1% MGS 2039 (I) registered the best performance with a 1.09% increase, to close at €124.
