HSBC pushes MSE Index higher

MSE Daily Trading Report, 14 November, 2019

The MSE Equity Total Return Index advanced by a further 0.117% to 9,857.015 points – as 13 equities were active. Gainers tallied to four while another three closed in the red. A total turnover of €242,175 was generated over 44 deals.

In the banking sector, HSBC Bank Malta registered a further 1.56%, increase to close at €1.30. This was the result of six deals involving 14,472 shares and which generated a total turnover of €18,700.

Bank of Valletta plc was also active as it traded seven times over 33,903 shares. The equity did not manage to recoup its previous loss, as it closed unchanged at €1.095. A total turnover of €37,075 was generated.

Seven deals involving 13,410 Lombard Bank Malta plc shares, pushed the price 1.79% higher to €2.28. Total turnover amounted to €30,399.

Telecommunications Company GO plc was up, this time by 0.47%, as it closed at €4.26. A total of two deals involving 3,195 shares were executed while turnover stood at €13,587. Meanwhile, its subsidiary, BMIT Technologies plc, was also active over two trades involving 47,000 shares. The previous closing price of €0.52 was however not impacted and total turnover stood at €24,420.

In the property sector, four equities were active. Trident Estates plc increased by 0.67%, to close at €1.51, as four deals with a spread of 29,281 were executed. The equity was the most liquid one, as total turnover stood at €44,092.

On the other hand, MIDI plc declined by 2.82%, to settle at €0.69. A total of 11,500 shares changed ownership over two deals. Total turnover amounted €7,935.

A sole deal of 4,000 Malita Investments plc shares dragged the price into the red by 1.62%, to close at €0.91. A total turnover of €3,640 was generated.

Meanwhile, Malta Property Company plc was also active but closed unchanged once again at €0.66. The equity was active over two deals on slim volume.

International Hotel Investment plc registered a total turnover of €8,015, as 9,500 shares changed hands across four deals. This left no impact on the previous closing price of €0.85.

Heading the list of fallers, Grand Harbour Marina plc closed 9.09% lower at €0.50. A total turnover of €25,000 was generated, as two deals involving 50,000 shares were executed.

Elsewhere, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc and Medserv plc were both active but closed unchanged at €11.50 and €1.30, respectively.

In the corporate debt market, 20 issues were active, of which five headed north while another eight closed in the opposite direction. The best performer was the 4.5% Hili Properties plc Unsecured € 2025, as it closed 0.34% higher at €102.40.

In the sovereign debt market, all but two of the 10 active issues registered gains while the other two declined. The 2.5% MGS 2036 (I) headed the list of gainers with a 0.70% increase, to close at €128.49.
