BOV pushes MSE Index into positive territory

The MSE Equity Total Return Index ended the week on a positive note as it closed 0.131% higher at 9,420.014. Seven equities were active, of which three registered gains while another one closed in the red. A total turnover of €195,508 was generated across 30 transactions.

In the banking sector, Bank of Valletta plc closed at €1.04, translating into a 0.97% increase in price. This was the result of nine deals involving 25,359 shares. Total turnover amounted to €26,286.

Its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc, was also active as 21,640 shares changed ownership over four deals. A total turnover of €25,364 was recorded and the equity’s previous closing price of €1.18 was left unaltered.

Another large cap equity, Malta International Airport plc, ended the session in the red with a 0.72% decline to €6.90. A total turnover of €50,286 was recorded as the equity traded six times over a spread 7,286 shares.

In the property sector, MIDI plc was the only active equity.  Four deals involving 60,000 shares pushed the price 3% higher to €0.515, resulting into the best performance for the session. A total turnover of €29,935 was recorded.

PG plc was active over five deals involving 22,881 shares. During the day, the equity reached €1.84 but ended the session at €1.80. A 0.56% increase was recorded and total turnover amounted to €41,578.

Elsewhere, RS2 Software plc and BMIT Technologies plc were both active but closed unchanged at €2.14 and €0.51, respectively.

In the sovereign debt market, out of 14 active issues, of which six advanced while another five declined. The 2.4% MGS 2041 (I) headed the list of gainers as it closed 1.37% higher at €135.

In the corporate debt market¸15 issues were active, of which two headed north while seven closed in the opposite direction. The best performance was registered by the 3.75% Mercury Projects Finance plc Secured € 2027 as it closed 0.5% higher at €100.50.
