MSE Daily Trading Report, 04 February, 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index recouped yesterday’s loss as it closed 0.646% higher at 9,545.720 points. Eight issues were active, of which five registered gains while the rest closed unchanged. A total turnover of €73,882 was generated over 20 deals.

Bank of Valletta plc traded flat at €1.07 as 16,900 shares changed hands over five transactions. A total turnover of €18,083 was recorded.

Its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc registered the highest liquidity as total turnover amounted to €28,890. This was the outcome of four deals involving 27,000 shares, which pushed the price 1.90% higher, to close at €1.07.

FIMBank plc announced that the board shall meet on March 10, 2020 to consider, and if deemed fit, approve the group’s and bank’s audited accounts for the financial year ended December 31, 2019. The board shall also consider a dividend declaration, if any, to be recommended to the AGM of shareholders.

Three deals involving 2,043 Malta International Airport plc pushed price upwards by 1.46%, reaching the €6.95 price level. Total turnover stood at €14,199.

In the property sector, MIDI plc recorded a sole deal of 2,083 shares. As a result, price was up by 2.13%, ending the session at €0.48. Meanwhile, Tigne’ Mall plc traded twice over a spread of 5,111 shares, generating a total turnover of €4,600. The equity’s previous closing price of €0.90 was not impacted.

Mapfre Middlesea plc was active over a sole deal on slim volume. This resulted into a 1.72% increase in price, to close at €2.36. Similarly, International Hotel Investments plc registered a 1.88% rise in price, as it closed at €0.815. A total of 6,267 shares changed ownership across two transactions, generating a total turnover of €5,029.

Meanwhile, two transactions with a spread of 2,083 BMIT Technologies plc shares did not alter the equity’s previous closing price of €0.52.

In the corporate debt market, 15 issues were active, of which two headed north while another nine closed in the opposite direction. The best performer was the 3.8% Hili Finance Company plc Unsecured € 2029 as it recorded a 0.29% increase in price, to close at €99.98. On the other hand, the 3.75% Premier Capital plc Unsecured € 2026 lost 3.09%, ending the session at €102.00.

In the sovereign debt market out of 11 active issues, only one registered a gain while the rest traded lower. The 5% MGS 2021(I) closed 0.01% higher as it closed at €107.96. Conversely, the 4.5% MGS 2028 (II) registered the largest decline in price, as it ended the session 1.57% lower at €137.80.

In the prospects MTF market, the 4.75% Orion Finance plc € Unsecured 2027 lost 0.10% as it closed at €101.410. Meanwhile, the 5.5% Testa Finance plc € Bonds 2029 was active but closed unchanged at €102.00.
