MSE Index back into negative territory

MSE Daily Trading Report, 11 February, 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index did not manage to sustain its previous gain as it closed 0.588% lower at 9,476.032 points. Out of 15 active equities, three headed north while another five closed in the opposite direction. A total turnover of €184,810 was generated over 40 deals.

In the banking industry, Bank of Valletta plc traded three times over a spread of 3,490 shares. As a result, the bank lost 2.78%, ending the session at €1.05. A total turnover of €3,690 was recorded.

On the other hand, its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc, registered the highest liquidity as total turnover amounted to €68,400. The bank closed 0.96% higher at €1.05 as 13 deals involving 65,000 shares were executed.

Another positive performer was GlobalCapital plc, as a sole deal of 1,120 shares pushed its price 7.14% higher, to close at €0.30. Similarly, sole deal of 25,882 Loqus Holdings plc shares pushed the price 14.50% higher, to close at €0.075.

In the property sector, a sole deal of 500 Trident Estates plc shares dragged the price by 3.95%, ending the session at €1.70. Malita Investments plc also lost ground as it declined by 1.11%, reaching the €0.89 price level. This was the outcome of one deal of 4,000 shares, which generated a total turnover of €3,560.

Meanwhile, MIDI plc and Tigne’ Mall plc were both active but closed unchanged at €0.47 and €0.90, respectively. The former equity was active over three deals with a mix of 20,447 shares. Total turnover stood at €9,506. The latter traded twice over 8,400 shares, generating a total turnover of €7,560.

Telecommunications company, GO plc, was down by 0.48% as 1,300 shares changed ownership across three transactions. The equity generated a total turnover of €5,375 as price declined to €4.12.

International Hotel Investments plc lost 1.84%, as 34,821 shares changed hands over three deals. As a result, the equity closed at €0.80 and registered a total turnover of €27,907.

Two deal involving 592 Malta International Airport plc did not impact the equity’s previous closing price of €6.95. A total turnover of €4,114 was recorded.

RS2 Software plc was active over three deals with a spread of 2,100 shares but closed unchanged at €2.42. The equity generated a total turnover of €5,058.

Food and beverage conglomerate, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc, traded once over 2,549 shares, which generated a total turnover of €28,039. The equity closed unchanged at €11.00. Similarly, a sole deal of 2,475 PG plc shares did not affect the equity’s price, as it closed at €2.00. Total turnover stood at €4,950.

Harvest Technology plc was active over two deals involving 9,136 shares, worth €13,524.  The equity’s previous closing price of €1.48 was not altered.

In the corporate debt market, 17 issues were active, of which seven traded higher while another five closed in the red. The best performance was recorded by the 3.75% Bortex Group Finance plc Unsecured € 2027, as it closed 2.45% higher at €104.50. On the other hand, the 3.8% Hili Finance Company plc Unsecured € 2029 lost 2%, to close at €98.00.

In the sovereign debt market, out of 15 active issues, four registered gains while another nine lost ground. The 5.2% MGS 2031 (I) headed the list of gainers as it closed 0.25% higher, to close at €154.35. Conversely, the 5.1% MGS 2022(I) declined by 0.31%, ending the session at €113.37.

In the prospects MTF market, the 5.5% Yacht Lift Malta Plc Secured Callable Bonds 2021-2025 was active but closed unchanged at €101.00.
