MSE Daily Trading Report, 21 February, 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index registered a 0.543% increase as it ended the week at 9,518.124 points. A total of 16 equities were active, of which eight headed north while another three closed in the opposite direction. A total turnover of €246,461 was generated as 48 deals were executed.

In the banking industry, Bank of Valletta plc recorded a 0.96% gains as 10,757 shares changed hands over six transactions. As a result, the bank closed at €1.05 and generated a total turnover of €11,470.

Meanwhile, its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc did not manage to sustain its previous gain as it traded 2.73% lower, to close at €1.07. This was the outcome of eight deals involving 67,810 shares. The bank registered the highest liquidity as total turnover amounted to €73,173

Lombard Bank Malta plc also ended the week on a positive note. A sole deal with slim turnover pushed the price 2.83% higher, to close at €2.16.

Five deals involving 3,225 Malta International Airport plc shares resulted into a 1.47% increase in price, reaching the €6.90 price level. A total turnover of €22,453 was recorded.

The best performance was recorded by International Hotel Investments plc, as it closed 3.90% higher at €0.80. A single deal of 10,000 shares was executed.

Telecommunications company, GO plc, traded twice over a mix of 8,442 shares. The equity was up by 0.48% and generated a total turnover of €35,456. Its subsidiary, BMIT Technologies plc also registered a positive 0.96% movement in price, to close at €0.525. Total turnover stood at €14,165 as 27,000 shares changed hands over three transactions.

RS2 Software plc traded 10 times over a mix of 16,527 shares. The equity’s previous closing price of €2.52 was not altered while total turnover amounted to €42,057.

A single deal of 6,655 Harvest Technology plc shares pushed the price to €1.50 and generated a total turnover of €9,983.

Moving on to the property sector, Malta Properties Company plc was active over three deals involving 4,980 shares. The equity ended the session 2.31% higher at €0.665 and generated a total turnover of €3,312.

One deal of 5,000 Malita Investments plc shares did not impact the equity’s previous closing price of €0.89. Total turnover stood at €9,968. Similarly, MIDI plc also traded once over 5,000 shares but closed unchanged at €0.49.

Medserv plc ended the session in negative territory with a 5.50% fall in price, to close at €1.03. A sole deal of 1,000 shares resulted into a total turnover of €1,030.

On a similar note, Plaza Centres plc also executed one deal of 1,000 shares which dragged the price by 1.90% to €1.03. The equity registered a total turnover of €1,030.

Elsewhere, Mapfre Middlesea plc and PG plc were both active but closed unchanged at €2.28 and €2.00, respectively.

In the sovereign debt market, out of 16 active issues, 12 registered gains while another three closed in the red. The best performer was the 3% MGS 2040 (I) as it closed 1.03% higher at €142.95. Conversely, the 5.25% MGS 2030 (I) closed 0.23% lower at €150.00.

In the Corporate debt market, 16 issues were active, of which seven gained ground while the rest closed unchanged. The 4.25% Mercury Projects Finance plc Secured € 2031 headed the list of gainers as it closed 0.97% higher at €102.50.

In the Prospects MTF market, no trading activity was recorded.
