MSE Index Makes a Mere Bounce Back

The MSE Equity Total Return Index registered a marginal growth of 0.173%. This was achieved through 70 trades spread across 14 active equities – three closed in the green while five closed in the red.

Mapfre Middlesea plc, GO plc, International Hotel Investments plc, FIMBank plc, RS2 Software plc and Malita Investments plc all closed flat.

The performance that stuck out the most was Grand Harbour Marina plc as this equity closed 8.33% lower to reach a price level of €0.55. This was done through a single trade worth €16,664.

Bank of Valletta plc equity flourished by 2.44% spread across eight deals to end today’s session at €1.05. Its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc equity decreased by 0.93% to close at €1.06 spread across three trades worth just over €7,500.

As fears on the corona virus mount, the Malta International Airport plc equity price continued to drop by a further 2.42% to end the session at €6.05 – the lowest price level its been in 13 months. This share was the most liquid as 23 transactions tallied to €326,215.

Following suit was Medserv plc. The company’s equity price also closed lower; 2.91%, at €1 – this was based on a couple of trades with a sheer value of €700.

PG plc also had a similar performance. Seven exchanges reduced its price level to €1.95.

On the other hand, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc and BMIT Technologies plc both closed at a higher level of  0.92% to finish the session at €11 and €0.55 respectively.

In the Sovereign Debt market, out of 11 active issues, three advanced while another seven closed in the red. The 5.2% MGS 2031 (I) registered the best performance is it closed at €155.62, translating into a 0.09% increase in price. Conversely, the 5.25% MGS 2030 (I) ended the session 0.3% lower at €151.18.

In the Corporate Debt market, 25 issues were active, of which 12 registered gains while another six lost ground. The best performer was the 6% International Hotel Investments plc € 2024 as it closed 3.81% higher at €109.00. On the other hand, the 3.85% Hili Finance Company plc Unsecured € 2028 lost 1.96% as it ended the session at par.

In the Prospects MTF market, three issues were active but closed unchanged. The 5% Testa Finance plc Unsecured Bonds 2029 registered the highest liquidity as total turnover stood at €5,100.
