MSE Daily Trading Report, 09 March, 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index started off the week on a negative note as it declined by 1.483%, reaching 9,195.575 points. A total of 16 equities were active, of which three headed north while another nine closed in the opposite direction. Total turnover of €655,426 was generated over 92 deals.

Three equities were active in the banking industry. Bank of Valletta plc was down by 1.90% as eight deals involving 25,673 shares were executed. The bank ended the session at €1.03 and generated a total turnover of €26,573.

Its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc, registered the highest liquidity as total turnover stood at €210,809. This was the result of 202,581 shares which changed hands across 15 transactions. Price declined by 0.94%, to close at €1.05.

Meanwhile, Lombard Bank Malta plc was also active but closed unchanged at €2.22. Two deals involving 2,013 shares generated a total turnover of €4,469.

Malta International Airport plc was also very liquid as it recorded a total turnover of €169,244. The equity reached an intra-day low price of €5.65 but ended the session at €5.70, translating into a 5.79% decline. A mix of 29,135 shares changed ownership over 26 transactions.

Telecommunications company, GO plc, traded three times over a spread of 4,150 shares. This resulted into a negative 0.94% change in price, to close at €4.22. Total turnover amounted to €17,513.

Similarly, 11 deal involving 25,878 RS2 Software plc shares dragged the price 1.57% downwards. The equity ended the session at €2.50 and generated a total turnover of €62,462.

In the property sector, four equities were active. Trident Estates plc advanced by 3.18% as 10,560 shares changed hands over three deals. Total turnover stood at €17,157 while price increased to €1.62.

Similarly, one deal of 3,899 Tigne Mall plc shares pushed price 1.14% higher to €0.89. Total turnover of €3,470 was generated.

Malta Properties Company plc traded twice over a mix of 14,000 shares. Price was up by 4.92% to €0.640 while total turnover stood at €8,985.

On the other hand, MIDI plc headed the list of fallers as it closed 7.92% lower at €0.442. Total turnover amounted to €3,890 as two deals involving 8,800 shares were executed.

Five deals involving 41,684 International Hotel Investments plc shares resulted into a 1.33% decline, to close at €0.74. A total turnover of €31,238 was recorded.

PG plc closed in the red at €1.91, translating into a 2.05% decline in price. Five deals involving 11,580 shares were executed, worth €22,389.

On a similar note, Plaza Centres plc was down by 0.96% as 17,000 shares were executed over two deals. Total turnover stood at €17,510 while price reached the €1.03 price level.

Meanwhile, Mapfre Middlesea plc, MaltaPost plc and Simonds Farsons Cisk plc were both active but closed unchanged at €2.32, €1.30 and €11.00, respectively.

In the Sovereign Debt market, out of 14 active issues, nine lost ground while the rest registered gains. The best performer was the 2.4% MGS 2041 (I) as it closed 1.58% higher at €135.33. Conversely, the 4.8% MGS 2028 (I) lost 0.22%, ending the session at €140.15.

In the Corporate Debt market, 29 issues were active, of which five advanced while another 13 closed in the red. The 4% Stivala Group Finance plc Secured € 2027 headed the list of gainers with a 0.48% increase, as it closed at €104.50. On the other hand, the 3.75% Bortex Group Finance plc Unsecured € 2027 traded 4.57% lower at €100.20.

In the Prospects MTF market, two issues were active. The 5% Busy Bee Finance Company plc Unsecured € 2029 closed 0.96% lower at €103. Meanwhile, 4.75% KA Finance plc Secured Callable Bonds 2026-2029 was active but closed unchanged at €102.20.
