Large caps push MSE Index higher

MSE Daily Trading Report, 25 March, 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index returned to positive territory as it ended the session 0.795% higher at 7,640.235 points. A total of 10 equities were active, of which five registered gains while another two lost ground. A total turnover of €412,437 was generated over 85 deals.

Bank of Valletta plc traded 1.16% higher as it closed at €0.870. A total of 115,331 shares changed hands over 26 transactions, generating a total turnover of €98,954.

Its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc was also active as six deals involving 12,951 shares were executed, worth €11,656. The bank’s previous closing price of €0.90 was not impacted.

Malta International Airport plc extended its gain by a further 5.29% as it reached the €4.38 price level. A total of 25 deals involving a mix of 23,775 shares generated a total turnover of €100,085.

IT services provider, RS2 Software plc, registered the highest liquidity as total turnover stood at €115,615. This was the result of 67,759 shares spread over 12 transactions. The equity ended the session 2.94% higher at €1.75.

GO plc executed two deals involving a mix of 5,000 shares but closed unchanged at €3.94. A total turnover of €19,668 was recorded. Meanwhile, its subsidiary, BMIT Technologies plc lost 0.42%, as it ended the session at €0.478. A sole deal of 23,000 shares was executed, generating a total turnover of €10,994.

Five deals involving 36,520 International Hotel Investments plc shares pushed price 2.97% higher to €0.52. A total turnover of €18,990 was generated.

A sole deal of slim volume resulted into a 3.2% increase in Trident Estate plc’s share price. The equity ended the session at €1.29.

Retail conglomerate, PG plc, was down by 2.42% as 21,250 shares changed ownership across six transactions. Total turnover amounted to €34,072 as the equity closed at €1.61.

Elsewhere, MIDI plc was also active but closed unchanged at €0.38. The equity executed a single deal of 5,000 shares, worth €1,900.

In the Sovereign Debt market, only three issues were active of which two closed in opposite direction while the other one closed unchanged. The 4.3% MGS 2033 (I) ended the session 2.32% higher at €144.12. On the other hand, the 2.1% MGS 2039 (I) closed 6.32% lower at €119.91.

In the Corporate Debt market, 19 issues were active, of which two headed north while another eight closed in the red. The best performer was the 3.75% Tumas Investments plc Unsecured € 2027 as it closed 1.01% higher at par. Conversely, the 3.75% Premier Capital plc Unsecured € 2026 traded 9.5% lower at €90.05.

In the Prospects MTF market, no trading activity was recorded.
