MSE Index ends the week on a positive note

MSE Daily Trading Report, 27 March, 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index continued to advance by a further 1.255% as it reached 7,880.005 points. A total of 11 equities were active, of which five traded higher while another four closed in the red. Total turnover stood at €621,434 through 96 transactions which were executed.

Malta International Airport plc shares continued its recent performance as it continued its recovery by another 4%, reaching the €5.20 price level. The equity was also the most liquid as total turnover amounted to €238,062. This was the result of 42 deals involving a mix of 46,431 shares.

In the banking sector, Bank of Valletta plc closed unchanged at €0.86. The equity generated a total turnover of €96,764 as 112,232 shares changed hands over 23 transactions.

Its peer, HSBC Bank Malta plc closed in the green as the share price was up by 2.22% to end the session at €0.92. This was the outcome of five deals involving a mix of 8,979 shares.

On the other hand, FIMBank plc’s equity price recorded the largest loss of today’s trading session – 7.79% decrease to reach the $0.45 price level. A sole deal of 55,000 shares was executed.

The top performer today was Grand Harbour Marina plc as its share price appreciated by 36.36%. A total of 10,700 shares were spread across two trades, worth €6,025.

Another positive performer was International Hotel Investments plc. A single trade of 9,560 shares increased price by 9.62% to close the session at €0.57.

RS2 Software plc also continued to improve its equity performance – increased by 3.78% to close at €1.92. This was the result of eight deals involving 34,200 shares.

Malita Investments plc closed in the red – by 1.28% spread across two trades worth just over €27,000. Following suit was Maltapost plc – a single trade reduced the share price by 1.79% to close at €1.10. Total turnover of €29,437 was recorded as 26,761 shares were executed.

Telecommunications company, GO plc, also closed in negative territory. The share price declined by 1.02% to end the session at €3.90. Five deals involving 15,080 shares generated a total turnover of €58,812.

Meanwhile,  PG plc traded flat as it closed at €1.60. Six deals involving 40,900 shares were executed, worth €65,475.

In the Sovereign Debt market, eight issues were active, of which four headed north while another two closed in the opposite direction. The 3% MGS 2040 (I) headed the list of gainers as it ended the session 1.46% higher at €139.00. On the other hand, the 2.5% MGS 2036 (I) lost 1.65%, to close at €125.89.

In the Corporate Debt market, out of 29 active issues, 20 lost ground while four advanced. The 4.35% SD Finance plc Unsecured € 2027 registered the best performance of a 1.52% increase in price, to close at €99.49. Conversely, the 6% Medserv plc Sec. & Grntd € Notes 2020-2023 S1 T1 traded 3% lower at €97.

In the Prospects MTF market, four issues were active, of which two declined. The 5% Horizon Finance plc Secured Callable € Bonds 2026-2029 traded flat at €98.
