MSE Total Return Index gains 0.94%

MSE Daily Trading Report, 24 June 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index advanced by 0.940%, to reach 8,304.344 points. All eight active equities closed in positive territory except for one which closed unchanged. A total turnover of €52,593 was generated across 18 transactions.

In the banking sector, Bank of Valletta plc, HSBC Bank Malta plc and Lombard Bank Malta plc all registered gains. Lombard shares were up by 2.94%, to close at €2.10. HSBC shares followed suit, as the equity price increased by 1.05% to €0.96. Meanwhile BOV shares closed almost 1% higher at €1.02. Turnover in BOV fell just short of the €6,000 mark while that of HSBC was a mere €144. Lombard Bank Malta plc was active in a sole transaction worth €2,100.

A single trade of 4,000 shares in International Hotel Investments plc was enough to lift the equity’s price by 4.46%, to close the session at €0.585.

Three trades over a slim volume saw the price of Main Street Complex plc advance by 9.62%, to close at €0.57. Similarly, its peer Plaza Centres plc, registered a 5.10% price appreciation, to close at €1.03.

A total turnover of €19,622 saw the price of Malta International Airport plc head 1.75% higher, to close at €5.80.

Elsewhere RS2 Software plc shares closed unchanged at €2.40.

In the Sovereign Debt market, six issues were active, of which four headed south while two closed unchanged. The 5.25% MGS 2030 (I) registered the largest daily decline of 2.16%, to close at €147.

In the Corporate Debt market, 25 issues were active, of which six advanced while nine lost ground. The 3.75% Mercury Projects Finance plc Secured € 2027 headed the list of gainers, to close 2.99% up at €103. On the other hand, the 4% Merkanti Holding plc Secured €2026 registered a decline of 3.65%, to close at €100.20.

In the Prospects MTF market, no trading activity was recorded.
