Local Weekly Round up 13th Mar – 17th Mar

Successive gains were registered from all this week’s trading sessions reaching new record levels throughout the week resulting in an overall rise in the MSE share index by 2.14% closing on Friday at a level of 6356.835.  BOV equity was the top gainer during this week as persistent buying activity lead to a positive change of 5.41% recording a total of 128,831 shares exchanged across 222 deals and closing off the week at a price of Lm4.84c9. The most liquid equity was HSBC as over 129,000 shares were transacted across 464 trades resulting in a positive performance for this equity registering a climb of 1.38% closing Friday’s session at a level of Lm11.05c.   As opposed to last week’s substantial drop FIM Bank reclaimed the $2.02 level on Friday being the highest level reached this week for the bank, recording an overall weekly gain of 1.00%.  Middlesea Insurance and MIA also registered gains as price rose by 1.42% and 0.33% respectively. Throughout most of the week GFSG equity moved negatively and unlike last week’s best performance this week it was the top loser as its price fell by 4.71%.  From the beginning of this week there was a change in company name to GlobalCapital. The full-year results are due to be announced on Friday 24 March.  Plaza equity also recorded losses of 4.55% and its full-years results and dividend announcements are due on Tuesday 21 March. Maltacom equity fluctuated around the Lm2.20 level closing at a price of Lm2.18c8 recording an overall drop of 0.50%.  IHI equity was another loser for this week as its price fell by 2.30%.  Simonds Farsons Cisk and San Tumas Shareholdings plc share prices did not alter whereas Datarak Holdings and Suncrest eqtuities were not traded during this week. New Government Stock of Lm15 million 4.8% 2016 (II) were issued this week at price of Lm104 per Lm100 nominal giving a gross redemption yield of 4.32%.  Subscription opens on Tuesday 21 March at 8.30am and closes at 12.00 noon on Friday 24th March 2006.
