MSE Daily Trading Report, 03 December, 2019

The MSE Equity Total Return Index did not manage to sustain yesterday’s gain as it closed 0.513% lower at 9,592.685 points. A total of 13 equities were active, of which registered gains while another four lost ground. A total turnover of €138,165 was generated across 37 deals.

The main drag on the index was Bank of Valletta plc as it declined by 1.40% to close at €1.06. Four deals involving 4,060 shares were executed, generating a total turnover of €4,320. Meanwhile, HSBC Bank Malta plc traded once on slim volume but closed unchanged at €1.25.

Two deals involving 4,000 FIMBank plc shares pushed the price 2.40% higher to $0.64.

The best performance was registered by Malta Properties Company plc as it closed 3.68% higher at €0.705. The equity was active over a sole deal on slim turnover.

On the other hand, following MIDI plc headed the list of fallers with a 14.06% decline, to close at €0.55. The company issued an announcement that the discussions with Tumas Group Company Limited in relation to the development of Manoel Island have ceased. As a result, the equity recorded the highest liquidity as total turnover stood at €78,697. A total of 141,700 shares were spread over 123 deals.

Two other property equities, Malita Investments plc and Tigne’ Mall plc were both active on low volumes. Their previous closing price of €0.90 was left unaltered.

A sole deal of 181 International Hotel Investments plc pushed the price 1.25% into the green, to close at €0.81.

RS2 Software plc traded twice over a spread of 5,000 shares. As a result, price was down by 2.78%, to close at €2.10. Total turnover amounted to €10,652.

Similarly, Medserv plc was also active as 13,500 shares changed ownership over three transactions. This resulted into a 0.90% decline in price to €1.10 and a total turnover of €14,850.

Malta International Airport plc traded four times over a spread of 2,060 shares. A total turnover of €14,626 was generated and its previous closing price of €7.10 was not impacted.

Elsewhere, GO plc and PG plc were both active but closed unchanged at €4.18 and €1.75, respectively.

In the corporate debt market, 18 issues were active, of which nine advanced while another four traded lower. The 4.25% Mercury Projects Finance plc Secured € 2031 headed the list of gainers with a 2.41% increase to €102.92.

In the sovereign debt market, all 10 active issues closed in the red as yields went up. The 2.4% MGS 2041 (I) registered the largest decline in price of 1.74% as it closed at €127.73.
