HSBC drags MSE Index further down
MSE Daily Trading Report, 04 December, 2019
The MSE Equity Total Return Index declined by a further 0.517% to 9,543.066 points. Seven equities were active of which two declined while the rest closed unchanged. A total turnover of €83,902 was generated over 26 deals.
In the banking sector, HSBC Bank Malta plc ended the session in negative territory with a 4% decline, to close at €1.20. This was the result of two deals involving 1,740 shares, which generated a total turnover of €2,088.
Meanwhile, Bank of Valletta plc was the most liquid equity as it recorded a total turnover of €30,114. A total of 28,400 shares changed hands over nine deals, leaving no impact on the bank’s previous closing price of €1.06.
In the property sector, MIDI plc closed in the red at €0.52, translating into a 5.45% decline. The equity traded seven times over a spread of 40,350 shares. Total turnover stood at €21,207.
Telecommunications company, GO plc, traded twice on slim volume. A total turnover of €3,908 was generated and price was left unaltered at €4.18. Similarly, its subsidiary, BMIT Technologies plc, was also active but closed unchanged at €0.51. Three transactions involving 20,000 shares were executed, generating a total turnover of €10,200.
A sole deal of 5,819 International Hotel Investments plc shares did not impact the previous closing price of €0.81. This resulted into a total turnover of €4,713.
Simonds Farsons Cisk plc registered a total turnover of €11,673 as 1,015 shares changed ownership across two deals. The equity closed unchanged at €11.50.
In the corporate debt market, out of eight active issues, two advanced while another four lost ground. The best performance was registered by the 5% Mediterranean Investments Holding plc Unsecured € 2022 as it closed 0.5% higher at €101.
In the sovereign debt market, 14 issues were active, of which 12 headed north while 4.5% MGS 2028 (II) closed in the opposite direction at €136.16. The 2.1% MGS 2039 (I) headed the list of gainers as it closed 3.71% higher at €126.
