MSE Daily Trading Report, 24 January, 2020

The MSE Equity Total Return Index recouped a third of yesterday’s decline as the equity closed the session 0.181% higher at 9,469,298 points. A total of 44 trades were recorded across ten equities worth €241,660. Out of the nine equities traded, three decreased in value, while another three increased in value.

In the banking sector, HSBC Bank Malta plc gained 0.93% at €1.08. A total of 3 deals saw 3,890 shares exchange hands. Meanwhile, Bank of Valletta plc shares closed flat at €1.075 despite registering a turnover of €54,011 over 11 deals.

PG plc continued to add on to yesterday’s positive performance as the equity gained 3.11% to close the session at €1.99. The equity managed to notch a total turnover of €71,340 over 10 transactions.

BMIT Technologies plc closed the session in positive territory as the equity added 1.96% to its value to close at €0.52. A total turnover of 29,400 shares exchanged hands between two deals.

RS2 Software plc shares closed the session at the €2.30 price level. A total turnover of €18,807 was generated between five deals.

Mapfre Middlesea plc, International Hotel Investments plc and Malta International Airport plc all closed the session in the red. Mapfre Middlesea registered the largest decline of 0.90% to close the session at €2.20 price level. Meanwhile, IHI and MIA registered similar declines to close the session at €0.81 and €6.80 price level.

Elsewhere, MIDI plc and Malita Investments plc were active but remained flat.

In the corporate debt market, 90 deals recorded a total turnover of €1,558 million. Eighteen issues were active from which six closed in the green and 10 closed in the red. The 3.75% Tumas Investments plc Unsecured € 2027 registered the largest decline of 1.45% to close the session at €101.01.

In the sovereign debt market, a total turnover of €2.17m turnover was recorded spread across 159 deals. The majority of these bonds increased in value thus reducing their yields. The 2.3% MGS 2029 (I) rallied by 0.30% to close at €118.
